Ah yes: Mr. Mitchell, who has no legal training and calls himself a "Private Attorney General" and a "Federal Witness." Too bad for Mr. Mitchell that not being an attorney won't save him from being fined for making a completely frivolous claim. Anyone who takes these guys seriously would be better off as the recipient of a Darwin Award than trying to argue policy. ARGH!!!! $#!@! disagree button!
I wonder how long it will take the judge to stop laughing before he can actually throw this case out of court.
Judges have seen to many of these assinine cases to laugh any longer. The only questions are how large the fine will be and whether there will be contempt charges for making such a ridiculous and frivolous claim.
It's amazing what "tax protesters" are willing to believe simply because they don't like paying taxes. It's like the Christians who believe Adam and Eve were riding around the garden on vegetarian T. Rex.
That flag has gold fringes! That means it's a military flag and therefore a military court. You have no authority to try me in a military court!
It would be interesting to see the actual truth of this. The fact of the matter is that congress has the right to tax, but the legality of the IRS and its right to tax is not in the constitution. Abolish the Internal Rape of Society and lets get a fair flat tax on income. No deductions, no filing, no forms.
Now Randy Weaver's got involved: http://www.seacoastonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070619/NEWS/706190404/-1/NEWS More at the link.
The funny thing is, even when shown the law they still won't acknowledge the law. I had respect for Weaver at Ruby Ridge, because he was manipulated into breaking the law. As crazy as Koresh was at Waco, I'm still not convinced he did anything wrong. But these guys are criminals. Wrap it up in whatever rhetoric you will, they are doing the same thing we put Al Capone away for, which is not paying their taxes. That makes them criminals, not heroes. I just feel bad for the cops that are going to be hurt in all of this.
Er... we put Al Capone away for murder and organized crime. Tax evasion was just the only thing we could decisively pin on him.
Clearly, but he got away with murder and organized crime. He didn't cook the books well enough so he went down for not paying his taxes. Likewise, these people just refuse to pay their taxes. I'm not saying these people are on the same level as Capone, but he was the only tax evader I could think of at that moment.
