Good. The weasel tried to abuse the powers of his office and make money on the side in the process. Throw him in jail.
Agree with J. Blago is an arrogant shit and needs to be introduced to the concept that actions have consequences.
This is America. He'll go to white collar minimum security prison, write a book about the experience, and when released start a second career as a motivational speaker.
This is what happens when one falls afoul of the Obama Administration. He tried to get some political gain out of being able to appoint Obama's replacement. The 100% exact same as any other governor would do.
The book will only sell outside of Illinois. He totally fucked up this state and no one older than 25 will forgive him anytime soon.
No, you stupid, inbred moron. He attempted to "sell" the vacated Senator slot, among other felonies. Whether other politicians have done the same is fucking irrelevant.
Oh, I get the feeling he's going to be like herpes. Disappears for a while, only to appear when you're trying to get your girlfriend to give you a blowjob, the motherfucker. Wait, where was I going with this analogy? Oh yeah. Rod Blagojevich is an asshole.
Yes, unless you count the inevitable Dancing with the Stars stint while he's out on bail pending appeal . . .
While the maximum sentence is quite lengthy and more-or-less a life sentence, once his sentence starts we'll probably see him again outside of prison long before he's in a casket.
He won't serve a full year. He won't; trust me. Politicians and lawyers work around like cars going through a roundabout. This is you: This is them: Difference- Politicians take care of their own kind; we get herded like cattle with 'no regard' for our public good looking at the big picture. Even autocrats have to take into account the public good. If they don't, well, those cows tend to get violent, grow razor teeth, and get pissy. Sort of like how America is becoming today.
Unfortunately, that's to be expected. Ideally though, you'd like to see betrayals of this magnitude punished severely enough to act as a deterrent.
Well, as far as deterrence goes, my limited encounters with the various literature suggest that sentences greater than ten years have limited if any additional deterrent effect, while sentence increases up to ten years correlate noticeably with increased deterrence. People willing to risk ten years in prison simply believe that they're not ever going to be caught, and the way you get extra deterrent value is by changing that belief, not by increasing the sentence. Catching more criminals and keeping sentences relatively short is generally a solid crime reduction strategy that doesn't increase the costs of incarceration. I'd like to see Blago do life, but that's more because he seems hopelessly impossible to rehabilitate rather than because of some more generic deterrent effect. Narcissistic charismatic halfwits aren't readily treatable and will almost always end up socially destructive as con men of one stripe or another, even if they avoid doing so in a criminal fashion. I'd be happy enough with 10-to-life on the off chance he actually can demonstrate rehabilitation.
While he is guilty and should do the time I can't help but feel that there are a lot of people up to and including the President who should be sharing a cell with him. They were all just as involved in selling Obama's seat as Blago was.
You don't have to. The other account was made over a year ago when I thought I had lost my original account, but Lanz had ended up fixing the old one and so I didn't need the new one. You can do whatever is easiest for you, O2C.
