I wish celebrities (of all political persuasions) would remember that hyperbolic things they say about politicians offend those politicians' supporters...many of whom may be those celebrities' fans. There have been celebrities that I've liked that I've quit supporting because they've gone beyond opposing political views I favor, and into demonizing those--like me--who hold those political views. I liked Danny Glover and Jeneane Garafolo once upon a time, but their public comments on politics have made it impossible for me to see them as anything other than the opposition, so I don't want movies/shows that they're in.
I dunno, that gets tricky. I mean, Mel Gibson is a full blown Nazi, and I still like Mad Max. However, I dislike Janeane Garofalo not because of her politics (which even as a lefty, I find shrill) but, because she's a nasty stupid cow. (Googled the real spelling of her name) Oh, shit, she's almost 50, and still trying to do the whole "cutest nerd-girl at the bookstore", look? Okay, add pathetic to it.
*Looks up the interview* Eh...he didn't say anything too shrill, or controversial there. It was partisan, yeah, but he wasn't lying, it was all true shit.
Everyone has a right to their own views, for sure, but when you become a raving lunatic, at some point, you just are beyond believability. I can't watch a John Wayne movie to this day. While Eastwood's"empty chair speech has me considering he's swiftly approaching the threshold. Other conservative celebrities like Bruce Willis and Stacey Dash don't bother me at all though.
You guys DO know that he's 61 years old, right? Fisher's almost 56. Speaking of the latter, I watched her show Wishful Drinking recently. Worth your time, even if her POV is understandably a little skewed. Lots of memorable quotes, like the following:
While we're on the subject, how is "Janeane Garofalo" NOT the name of a politician to begin with? I see that name, and I don't think of a movie actress, I picture a dumpy Cabinet member in her 50s or 60s.
