It's certainly not because I think the first 4 years have been an unqualified success. The Obama administration has definitely been a work in progress with plenty of miscues & miscalculations along the way.

So why not give Romney a chance? Few will believe this, but I've been willing since day one to give serious consideration to any challenger who could offer a legitimate plan for economic recovery. I agree with Obama's critics who contend that he neglected the issue of job creation in favor of pursuing his health care agenda, which while noble, probably wasn't what the country needed most at this moment in time. Instead, what the Republicans offered up during their primary season was a ridiculous collection of freaks, geeks and other assorted carnival sideshow oddities. At the end of this bizarre game of Survivor: Island of Misfit Hopefuls, Romney was the last Mormon standing.

To put it simply, I don't believe Romney is the guy to lead the recovery. I don't believe he would do a single thing to help the country escape it's current economic quagmire. The only thing Romney's offering is the same old trickle-down, deregulation, union-busting nonsense that the Republicans have been peddling for the past 30 years.

So, if I don't think Romney is the economic savior, would I vote Republican anyway just to further their social issues agenda?

Nope, because today's Republican party doesn't represent anything I personally believe. I'm pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, in favor of the repeal of DADT, I believe in public schools, and I'd like it if we could preserve the environment.

Also, I don't feel like rewarding the Republicans for pushing the most pathetic smear campaign since Jerry Falwell suggested that Clinton killed Vince Foster. Of course, I'm referring to the birther insanity.

National security? Obama got Osama, something Dumbya couldn't do in 7 years after 9-11. Obama has killed countless brown people connected to al-queda using drones and SEAL teams. And several potential domestic threats have been averted. And despite the Republicans desperate attempts to turn Benghazi into another Watergate, I think Obama's record on foreign affairs is pretty strong.

    So, there you go.

I would be hesitent to applaud the revenge killing of Osama bin Laden, it's simply a Bush doctrine taken up by Obama. It would have been much better to capture him and put him on trial, then all the things about his past such as his involvement with the CIA in the 1980s could be brought out.

The answer to that is simple: You're an idiot.

It's been said, and I agree with it, that functionally, Romney's not likely to be any better than Obama was.

But Obama with an eye to reelection would be miles better than an Obama who can't be elected again and therefore has no personal interest in representing anyone outside the hard left.

On the same reasoning, if Romney wins, I would discourage anyone from voting to reelect him, either.

The ironic thing is that if he'd prioritized job creation (and succeeded) and people felt like the economy was recovering, he'd win this election in a walk-over and would have had a solid mandate to do his world-changing schtick in the second term.

Agreed. Whoever is elected will not have a real "mandate" from the people. Obama will simply have the "honor" of being "marginally less bad than Romney in the eyes of the people" and Romney, if he happens to be elected, will simply be "not-Obama."

It's because you believe in state secrets, American citizens being killed, or being held indefinitely, due process be damned, in the continued use of the Patriot Act, the further expansion of the Executive Branch, in continued and expanded conflicts overseas, but really mostly because you see Romney as the only other option to vote for in spite of the 3-4 other choices on the ballot, right? ;)

If you think that some Republican named Romney will be anywhere close to better on those points, you're too retarded to breathe.

Since you are clearly breathing, you're a liar.

The fact you think I support Romney right after I made a point of saying, "but really mostly because you see Romney as the only other option to vote for in spite of the 3-4 other choices on the ballot," means that you're in no position to call me retarded, bub. :garamet:

He's in Oklahoma, we only get two choices, :( not even a write in slot.

Also if Obama wins he won't do anything on domestic policy it is well documented that the best time to pass domestic policy is in the first two years of an administration. Maybe he will fuck up the rest of the world?

Miscues? Obama couldn't hit water if he fell out of a fucking boat!

Neither do I, but that doesn't mean I'd vote for the other idiot either.

Just FYI, Obama isn't for marriage equality either.

Just like the Left went after Bush's military service record.

    No he didn't.

So did Bush, both of whom I despise for their actions.

And I have a bridge to sell you....

Bush doctrine? Dumbya infamously downplayed the significance of getting OBL and made no serious attempts to get him over at least the last four years of his administration. Remember? He was too busy dragging us into the Iraq war under false pretenses.

And I disagree about the show trial being preferable. It would have been the biggest international media circus of all time, and it could have never escaped the "kangeroo court" accusations that would have been alleged by all the Julian Assange types out there.

No, I'm very comfortable with him with a bullet between the eyes. I don't care if it was revenge, or vengence, or justice, or however else you want to characterize it. As long as he's dead.

A few weeks ago, I was constructing my 'meltdown' for this year. I got most of it done. Our celebration of His holiness was going to be epic this time starting with bumping all 25 of the previous threads.

With just a little more effort, I can finish it off and get it ready for tomorrow. Easily cover the front page. Let the entire internet know what a saint He truly is!

Like I said, I wasn't going to repeat it this year, but then I see something that reminds me that buffoons like you would still bite and that's why I do what I do.

So, do you want another 'meltdown'.

You're a moron who hasn't said a single intelligent thing in the past year. :)

Your aasertion that a second term Obama would run amuk is dumb. If anything, second term presidents suffer under the weight of lame-duck syndrome, not "I'm all-powerful" syndrome.

But again, you're a total fool who deserves to be ridiculed and oatracized. :)

Maybe, but the commercial for profit insurance industry would have never stood idly by and allowed someone to champion reforms. Their only interest is in self-preservation, and screw the folks to whom they routinely deny services. Anything that makes monolithic insurance companies nervous is a good thing in my book.

Coming from you, that's nothing but praise.

100% assertion on your part, 0% substantiation.

Repeat it again. 0% truth repeated three times is still 0% truth to anyone with a functioning cerebrum. To you, on the other hand, it could redefine existence as you know it.
