Why Is Paula Dean Getting Slammed For Using the N Word 30 years ago?

Oh, so we are back to that old double-standard, are we?

It's okay for black people to use the word any way they want, but the second that a white person even whispers the word in any context they are automatically RRRRAAAACCCIIIISSSTTTT!!!!!!

We can't whine about the world we live in, because we are masters of that world. In absolute terms, not true, but it's close enough. It's a bit like the phrase "first world problem." When some of us have it so much better than others by mere accident of birth, we shouldn't complain too much when the others notice.

Her biggest problem is that she kills her followers too quickly. Kind of a metaphor for the kind of thinking that says what she said was okay. It's a dying breed.

Now, does Paula Deen deserve to lose her entire livelihood over this? No. However she didn't "deserve" it in the first place, beyond the extent that companies thought the publics positive view of her would benefit them. If that image is harmed then she loses what sh brought to the table.

I cook, and still don't know why I should watch cooking shows.

In fact, I'm not really sure why I should bother with much of anything on television. If it's a good film, it'll be on DVDs. If it's news, it'll be on internet, and presented in more detail. The rest seems to be drivel.

Apparently not Forbin which is exactly my point. It seems he's always saying, "I've never heard of (insert whatever here) and why should I give a fuck?" That's paraphrased of course.
