Indeed, Lanzman approached me but I lacked the funds to keep the board going. So think of that if you get upset with Ancalagon, you could have been stuck with me.
I have no problem with Anc as a person and often agree with his views on things. However, I can't say the same about his suggested approach to improving the board and recruiting new members, which in the past has been aggressive, intolerant of alternate ideas and generally inflexible. That'snot to mention his constant badgering of Lanzman for improvements at the very time Lanzman had been through some shit. I can like someone as a person without needing to consider them good leadership material. In addition I think he and gul are deemed by some people on here to be in a particular political camp and I wonder how wise it is to have such people at the top of the tree at a time when the board is so polarised. If the aim is to unite the board and get new blood I am not sure they are the most uniting of people. Anyway, as it is I don't post here that often these days anyway. I'd rather sit it out until or unless the place becomes a success, rather than offer opinions on things and generate hate in the few people here left who might feel that I'm not the devil incarnate.
Since when is political neutrality a prerequisite to owning an online bulletin board? I'd be more wary of someone who claims to have no beliefs or positions on social/political issues. And when has Wordforge ever not been politically polarized? It's no worse now than usual. What we *don't* have anymore is Sokar running around slinging antisemitic slurs and "pedophile" around in every thread. And that's been a very welcome change.
Political neutrality isn't what I am talking about. But contrast people like the proposed co-owners evenflow and Tex with Anc & gul. Which two are more likely to be acceptable to all involved? It's like the difference between Dan Leach and RickDeckard. Both have similar political views, but Dan is always going to come out on top in a vote over who would be more trustworthy to look after the interests of all members. I am not saying that Anc or gul are going to be advancing their own political agendas or anything like that. But I do see certain individuals here trying to pull the rug from under the feet and protesting ad infinitum.
Your overbearing sense of self importance and inherent desire to make yourself the centre of attention denotes that you will probably be sticking around. Prove me wrong though!
I look on this not without reservations. That said, the board essentially started with Cass, who at the time was openly partisan and batshit insane and in some ways that was the Golden Age for conservatives on this board. Indeed, Jeriko kept liberals in chains and rode them around like ponies.
Why don't you stick around to see what happens. I got in to this because I don't want Wordforge to die. But it's also an opportunity to kick us out of our rut. Anc knows he's polarizing. Tha's why there are four of us. Flow definitely represents a different political view, and Tex says he's in it for the money. If you leave too soon, you might miss the IPO.
Storm wasn't co-founder of WF. Cassie did it all by herself, well, with her brother. Storm just pitched in contacting people and asking them to come join...which quite a few people did when they first joined up. Everyone wanted their friends and foes to join the party.
That's just Storm playing his games. There are people out there who think Storm was the founder and secret Admin of TK, too and that is equally false. He adores making people believe stuff that isn't true.
Thanks for the congrats everyone! I know change of this magnitude can be unsettling at first but we'll make it through I promise! I'd like to further implore you all to go to testingforge.net and play around. Come Monday (it'll be alright) that is what this board is going to look like. It's a bit different so if you don't want to be fumbling around, go ahead and get acclimated. ALSO we just straight up need your help. This is new software for us too. Nick's done a good job fixing what we can find and WFizing the place, but the more people using it and running into issues, or pointing out things missing will help us get everything as straight as possible before the upgrade. We want the process to be as smooth as possible and for that to happen we need your help. So again, please check out testingforge and let the complaints begin! www.testingforge.net
