Not posting rep for Dayton, yep that's a banning. Not praising Dayton's failures, yep that's a banning. Swearing in Dayton's thread, yep that's a banning. Not agreeing with Dayton's fuckwittery, yep that's a banning. Posting in the Blue Room about anything Dayton disagrees with, yep that's a banning.
I forgot my password in the test site and tried to reset it. I got the e-mail and clicked the link and...
From my POV it's not your politics. It's your behavior. As shown previously towards others in Media Central, Paladin, and even Lanzman himself. It's all too easy to see you and Anc eventually slip into a "I don't like this guy so fuck him" mode even when the guy is in the right. Which is why I said I hope Evenflow and Tex step up more then their usual.
although one major change in the red room is we'll be able to post your blue room thread there and rip into it.
Okay, that's one mark against you Actually, useful input, and I think I can address that. My behavior as a rabble rouser comes from this board's background as a protest board. We left trekbbs because they went too far with restrictions and over-zealous moderation. I don't like even the perception that we might inch in that direction, so I'm a bit trigger happy. I've noticed this about you, too, by the way, with your frequent references to "Eliteforge." This is for the good. Much like back benchers in politics help to move the discussion even when they are wrong, rabble rousers can serve as a check on what's going on generally. And if you think about where I've pushed on things in the Helpdesk, it was almost always in the direction of giving more latitude and trust to the users. That will continue to be my default position. The board belongs to us all as users. We generate the content, the board is only as strong as the group. So I'm not likely to push for actions or rules that cause harm to the group that makes this place work. PS: I like Lanz and Paladin quite a lot. We go back more than a decade together, and there's hardly anybody here I don't like.
We'll see what happens when you make a decision people don't like. That will be the real test of whether of not you stick by the principles you now espouse. After all, that has been one of your own chief criticisms of people like Clyde. Personally, I don't think either you or Anc are the sort of people who like to admit you are wrong easily...and I don't think that bodes well for a position of leadership where, at times, you may have to swallow your pride.
I think Clyde was the first one to the wall. Our Commie-In-Chiefs are simply looking for someone to take over his account and pretend he still exists.
No, but it's ironic. Many years ago, Anc called me up and I had Zel answer the phone and pretend to be Tamar and told him he now knew my deepest secret. I hadn't thought of that in ages...it was pretty funny. So no...I'm a woman but Anc still loves sacks.
