I don't recall Jimmy Carter getting knocked on his ass and the Football stolen.

Please don't ban more than 30 or 40 Asyncritters per day. I would feel very lonely if there weren't very many of me rattling around inside my little brain (or what passes for one...). :(

Hey, that's the case for most of us here at Wordforge, even if we don't think that!

So how can you tell the difference?

suggestion, if compatible with the new software (which i doubt)

is it possible for accounts to become "inactive" if the poster doesn't log in for, say, six months (or whatever)? Not such that the account can't be used, but rather such that if one were to survey the member list one could sort active from inactive members.

You can get pretty close to an active member count by going to the list, sorting by "last visit," and seeing how many pages it takes to get to whatever you want the cutoff to be.

The mod tools on the new board are definitely a lot more versatile than our current ones. We'll need to establish some rules on what to do in terms of reported stuff, there are even multiple ways to delete stuff.

Played around with merging threads and stuff like that, all seems fairly stable although it would be nice if there was a notification when merging threads that have different states. For example if you merge a thread that has been hidden from public view with one that's publicly visible then the rules end up just being those of whichever thread title you select.

On the subject of skins, is the one on testingforge the one that will be gone with?

Been having a poke around and there are a couple called Novus and Spectrum that seem a lot cleaner and flow across the eyes easier.

right, but then you can't reorder that sub group in any other way. Say by post count for instance.

I'll be honest here. I don't like the new software at all. I think it's clumsy and clunky. I like vBulletin much better.

And then there are those links to Facebook and Twitter...

I don't really love it either.

I certainly won't be there much until there is a darker theme like Solstheim if for no other reason than to avoid eye strain and headaches.

Maybe what he doesn't like is the idea anyone connected through Facebook can post his posts with a single click on Facebook.

He didn't write to post on Facebook himself and maybe he didn't want it there at all. New people who join, especially through there, assume sharing posts at Facebook is encouraged when a board has a link.

No everyone likes or appreciates that.

Yeah, the themes need work. Probably end up shelling out for an out the box one early on while our graphics team* works on creating some custom ones.

As for the clunkyness, like a new car you've just got to drive it a bit. Switches and nobs aren't all in the same place but the basics are all the same and with a little practice you'll soon learn where all the little things are.

*graphics team needed. Apply via PM!

So, will the rep feature carry over? I'm not asking to stir the shit pot, but a lot of folks like the ability to comment directly to a post without having to bump a thread that has been dead for days, weeks or months.

It is just a shortcut button. Instead of saying "Hey this thread is interesting I think I'll cut and paste the Link to my wall" you push the button and it opens up a box where you can post the link to your wall.

It doesn't tag anyone, or post it on THEIR wall. It does nothing that you can't do right now (post a link to your wall), it's just a shortcut for those who want to use it.

Even if you accidentally hit the button, it just opens up a post box, where you can type in a post and then you have to click 'Post to Facebook' for it to go through.

We're currently working on figuring out how to get comments in Rep. It's high up on the list of usability features to fix when we get to the new board.

As I've said elsewhere, that's for the time being because FB's privacy policies and operations are constantly changing. That doesn't have as much to do with you as it has to do with Zuckerbird.

And to be frank, I'm not happy that you, of all people, are going to be in charge of the board. In all honesty, I don't trust you the way I trusted Elwood and Lanz. Or even Borgs and Cass.

I lost what little respect I had for you watching you hound Lanz mercilessly for the last year. IMHO you've acted like a pure bastard towards him until you finally got your way.

You're arrogant, conceited, and you think you know what's best for everyone.

    You don't know shit.
