    Gotta disagree, then again I liked the bus driver hats. These new ones look like the metal base of a lightbulb. The bus driver hats to me look like they belong. As for the beret disaster, that was the ultimate expression of the "well everyone gets an award" mentality if there every was one.

    I do and it still looks like shit to me. That's like saying that tricorn hats should still be in use. Oh and I agree that there is still a headgear caste system. Even kids in private schools know how to set up caste systems within the uniform, but still, it was a dumb assed move meant to dodge much bigger problems.

    CMB gets all the respect in the world, seen as equal to CIB, at least by infantrymen.

    You ought to look at the history of the Beret and how much the Army hated it, thought SF loved it, and everything they did to quash it. If my understanding of history is right it took JFK of all people to issue a presidential directive authorizing them and telling the Army to fuck off an die over the issue.

    So it went about how I thought it would. The CIB and CMB were always held in equal esteem. The CAB gets a :lol:

    @Zombie here is what we are talking about..

    CIB - Combat Infantry Badge - You get it for being a grunt and being shot at

    CMB - Combat Medic Badge - You get it for being a medic and being shot at, normally when you are assigned to a grunt unit

    CAB - Combat Action Badge - made up the other year for non combat arms who were pissing and moaning that they didnt have a special badge to show they had been in a combat zone (even though they did, the wearing of the unit patch on the right shoulder).

    Medics, if you're a half assed decent medic, the infantry platoon or company you are assigned to will protect and coddle your ass as much as possible because you are worth more than your weight in gold.
