Hi all I was kindly invited back to the forums by Ancalagon who I remember to be an all round good dude, and presumably no one still wants my head. Like my ex girlfriend, I complex feelings towards Wordforge. I spent way too much of my university on it, knew all about it in every detail, was obsessed with improving it and once loved it like I never loved before. Perhaps I didn't fully understand its needs and in the end I was kicked to the curb with a small amount of drama. Fun fact! Did you know my time administering Wordforge (or occasionally breaking it as some members may remember) gave me just enough experience to help start my career as a web systems administrator? Fun fact! Did you know my time administering Wordforge meant I actually never passed my computer science degree, but have been able to fake it ever since? I wonder if everyone's become supremely socially well adapted with middle of the road un-controversial opinions. If so you are DOING IT WRONG.
Well I am still a committed pirate so if I can't torrent it yet it doesn't exist to me. But seriously, I've been an activist with Pirate Party UK for the last few years. I got involved due to my forum admin skills... @gul 3 years ago my hard drive died and the pics were lost forever!
On the one hand, that's an awfully convenient excuse for an impostor, but on the other hand, not backing up the hard drive, that's definitely a borgsian fuck-up.
For what it's worth, I'm glad if the real Borgs is back, and I'm cautiously associating with the German Pirate Party. So there's that.
@gul Has that been a thing? @Packard it was all the time spent on Wordforge made me want to be an activist!
I remember increasing the loudness of an MP3 for Mini (banana phone), just so she could use it as a ringtone and it be even more annoying to people around her. Now that was a classy request.
Technically it's still my site, since I handed over ownership on the conditions of remaining tech admin, and was then booted out, voiding the conditions of the hand over. I'm sure everyone completely agrees to this position which is not at all controversial.
Yeah, considering one of the partners is an Oklahoma landowner, the whole 'originally stolen' bit obviously isn't going to go far.
To be fair, I lost touch that Wordforge was by the members for the members, so we'll say the members retained sovereignty throughout. I will accept a position as an irrelevant Royal obviously. I'm sure I'm capable of travelling to foreign countries spewing forth racist anecdotes and receiving government hand outs.
You'd probably still be tech admin if you hadn't signed up all of WF to your pirate site without permission and then made a big link to said site at the top of this board at just the right time for our host to see it and shut us down for a day or two until Elwood cleared up the fact that WF wasn't a source of pirating. Which you did after Elwood told you not to make any changes to the board without running it by him. You were given Tech Admin...not "Tech Admin that can do whatever he wants at all times and there will be no consequences".
Yeah, please let's have that argument again. We've never had it before, settling it is of paramount importance for the current workings of the board, completely new points of view are certain to come up, and the good will of nations as well as the eupepsy of individuals will no doubt be improved by it. But most importantly, it's exactly where a welcome thread to Borgs that starts with mutual amnesty should go -- right down memory lane; after all, isn't that what amnesty means?
