Things to do before 25

There had to be more to it than that. If a girl is unattached I get about a 60-65% success rate with that. Sometimes I'll just ask if they'd like to just "go out" some time. I get a yes/sure about 80% of the time that way. It doesn't have to be a "date", unless you somehow implied it that way.

If it isn't a "date" then what is the point.

A date would imply to the girl that you want to be with her from the start, rather than get to know her and then go from there. A hookup would be if your main interest was docking with her. I guess you could say most of mine would be a friendly date, and go from there.

It comes across as only being interested if there's a long term commitment or you're also saying they are not worth your time unless they stay with you long term. And "If it isn't a "date" then what is the point." really says a lot of why you were shot down so many times.

And looks while helpful, isn't everything. It's confidence and being personable, I don't think I'm any more attractive than the next guy. But I am confident, and that can be 90% or more of what it takes.

I know you might not understand this Ed (along with many others) but I would consider associating with a woman without a reasonable possibility of long term relationship to be a colossal waste of my time. I had (and still have) approximately zero interest in female friends.

Oh bullshit! You basically had an arranged marriage. What made you think that would work out for the long term? You thought you would get to know and love each other over time. That's all Ed is talking about -- casual date leads to better understanding of the other person, leads to knowing whether life long is a desirable possibility. How did you know with your wife before that first arranged date?

You are simplifying things. My wife and I meeting for the first time was arranged. Not our marriage per se.

But though I had never actually met the woman that became my wife I did know she had a tendency toward long term relationships as her and her long time boyfriend (at least two years) had broken up not too long prior to our meeting.

I'm just saying that I have no interests in friendships or causal acquaintanances with women in general. Why is that so hard to understand? I talked about it many times over the years going back to the TrekBBS days.

I'm not alone in that you know. My mom and at least one of my sisters loathed working with women.
