80 year old man experiences a break-in. He shoots and kills one of the robbers.
She claimed she was pregnant! And this is his fault how exactly?
BTW he's remorseful - that he didn't kill both. And he used a .22.
Was that a regular .22 rim-fire? If so, that's pretty bad ass, and his
shot placement must have been spot-on. Lessons learned:
    1. Don't fuck with old people. They are generally deadly and have years of weapons experience.
    2. Get a real fucking job, because being a criminal while pregnant slows you down. You're robbing for two now, you know!
    3. Do your recon, robbers. There's NO excuse for breaking into a house with the residents at home.

    Discuss.

LOS ANGELES – An 80-year-old man says he shot and killed a fleeing woman whom he had caught burglarizing his home, despite her plea that she was pregnant.

"She says, 'Don't shoot me, I'm pregnant — I'm going to have a baby,' and I shot her anyway," Tom Greer told KNBC-TV.

Greer said he walked in on the woman and a man who had broken into his house in Long Beach on Tuesday night.

The pair tackled him, Greer said, then continued ransacking the house, breaking into a safe while he watched.

He said he was able to get to his gun, a .22-caliber revolver, and the pair ran when he showed it to them.

He said he tried to shoot both of them but was only able to hit the woman.

"The lady didn't run as fast as the man, so I shot her in the back twice," Greer said. "She's dead ... but he got away."

He spoke to the TV station outside his house while wearing a sling for a shoulder injury he suffered in the struggle.

Deputy Police Chief David Hendricks confirmed at a news conference Wednesday that the man shot and killed the woman after apparently interrupting a crime in progress. It was not immediately clear whether any charges would be filed against Greer. Police planned to hold another news conference Thursday evening.

The Los Angeles County coroner was performing an autopsy and would confirm if the woman was pregnant, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.

So he shot a fleeing woman. Boy, he must've felt threatened by her running away.

    A true American hero.

Yeah, pretty good example of reckless behavior by the 80 year old.

Yeah, I can't agree with his actions at all. She was fleeing, which means she was no longer a threat. She begged him not to shoot her, even claiming she was pregnant, and he shot and killed her anyway. I would definitely file charges against him.

They were burglarizing his home and then they assaulted him. She got what she deserved.

And so what if she was pregnant? The majority of you are in favor of abortion rights and subscribe to leftist-feminist indoctrination that a fetus isn't a human life. So why use the fact that she was pregnant to try and inflame passions and make the situation seem worse than it is?

It does remind me of that scene from the end of Kill Bill 2 where The Bride discovers she is pregnant.

Absent some other evidence, the old guy is in a pack of trouble. You can't claim self-defense for shooting someone running away (unless they were running for a weapon, or for cover to fire at you, etc.).

No sympathy for the expectant corpse; only sorry that her partner is still an oxygen customer.

But the old guy's going to be facing some serious charges, which, given his public statements, are going to have no trouble sticking.

Why did you misspell "scientific fact" as "leftist-feminist indoctrination"?

You should have your keyboard checked. Something is not right.

Also: She got what she deserved? Really? The death penalty for stealing?

Well, not to go off on this tangent, but...

A human fetus is a living organism and it is of species Homo sapiens. From a scientific standpoint, that kinda does make it a human life.

I'll concede that I'd usually only say that about the embryo stage but I got carried away when I saw dimbulb's post.

Depending on the week of pregnancy a fetus would indeed classify as life.

    Also sorry about the derail.

It's a refreshing change. Usually five posts gets us to guns, and abortion doesn't show up for several more pages.

It was implicit in the original article. They want to use the fact that the female criminal was pregnant to bias everything against the old man. Yet if she'd walked into her local Planned Parenthood baby murder factory and had Dr. Death cut it's head off with pair hedge clippers, all the good little lefties would be celebrating it as an example of a brave female exercising her "reproductive freedom." Maybe she could have even live-blogged it in order to empower other females.

Her running away was enough for me to be biased against him. You don't get to shoot people in the back, sorry. Move to South Africa or something if that's your thing.

As for the gun? Why not go with an AR-15, I hear those are popular.
