It's fairly easy to come up with a scenario in which he'd play an older Kirk within the tangent universe... I'd be more concerned about Shatner now being 83 and how credible he would be in the role at that age.
He wouldn't have to be giving karate chops, just sit in a chair giving orders. Nimoy wasn't jumping all around, was he?
If this happens, then AwesomeTrek⢠3 will go down as one of the greatest moments in cinematic history.
I wish they had stopped using the original cast after TUC. Those guys had their time in the sun. Let the newer cast members have a movie without any cameos or homages.
I admit, I'm still a little annoyed that oldSpock was even included in nuTrek. But they've never had an actual reboot, have they?
It'll be beautiful. Old!Kirk will connive with Old!Spock to pull Older!Spock out of JJTrek and back into the future, where he can kick Old!Spock in the hiney and get to Romulus in time to punk the supernova and save the day, like our heroes always do. Thus order will be restored to the universe, and as a bonus, the JJverse will pop like a balloon (or not, depending on the theory of time travel being applied).
I would just be interested in them filming that one scene Orci was talking about where Kirk would wish Spock a happy birthday or something via holorecording. Other than that, I just don't see Kirk in Shat anymore.
I think that what they'll probably wind up doing is going and getting Kirk out of the Nexus because they need information about something that only he knows the answer to, and they'll spend the bulk of the movie trying to get to the Nexus and getting in to talk to Kirk. They'll probably call the film: Star Trek III: The Search for Shat.
While I agree with that, they'll haveto explain the nexus and other Treknobable to have it make sense. It's just not worth it.
No, fuck the nexus, all you need to do, is have Shatner be the older Pine-Kirk who didn't die in Generations, and have him come back in time with some more red matter. Easy peasy.
Means they have no faith in their current script. Then again they had no faith in the other two either and it was very profitable.
If Nimoy and Shatner appear it won't be in major roles, they are just too old for the studio to rely on them. I'd expect cameos with a level of involvement inbetween the first two Nu-Treks. Could even be something like old-Spock on his death bed, young-Spock goes to visit him, and as old-Spock is dying he sees a vision of "his" Kirk next to him.
This is really the only way to have Shatner in it which makes sense. I wonder if Nimoy would be playing Spock Prime, &/or the Older nuSpock in nuTrek 3? And Nimoy as well! Especially given his recent health problems.
it would have to be a "framing" shot. Shat as old "NuKirk" having some conversation with even-older Spoke-Prime about something that would then jump off to the actual movie. Post-credit scene: KIRK (Shat): "Wait!" *cough* "wait..." *cough*"...so you're telling me that in your timeline I died falling off of a bridge??!" SPOCK: "indeed." KIRK begins to snicker, then laugh out loud, then laugh uncontrollably sparking a coughing fit before clutching his chest and falling out of his seat, dead. SPOCK (raising one eyebrow): "That, at least, was a more logical death."
Please. I'm not an idiot. @NotDayton only posts in the red room. Flaming is permitted in the red room.
If they had faith in the scripts, they wouldn't use gimmicks to attract moviergoers. Spock, Khan, now Kirk. What next? The ghost of Roddenberry?
Not the kind I like from what we saw in the first 2 movies. Really El Chup. Do I have to post again about what I like?
