Look at the CPAC straw polls, the person who wins the straw poll is NEVER the GOP nominee. Rand Paul won it, so statistically speaking, the odds are very much against him getting the nomination, let alone the election. It won't take long for him to wind up in trouble.

Shit, Rand Paul isn't even a libertarian. He wants the state to outlaw all abortions in all cases even if the mother's life is in danger, he wants to outlaw same sex marriage and says equality is offensive (so much for contracts between consenting adults), Rand Paul wants huge corporate welfare to be packed into the military budget and wants to see the military budget to get bloated up far beyond what even the Pentagon could dream up, he wants extensive use of drones in the US, and he advocated putting people in prison for "making radical political speeches" (of course, he wants to be the one to decide if a speech was radical or not). So basically all you are left with is he wants to legalize pot, wants to make it legal for businesses to have whites only signs, and he wants to get rid of the NSA.

Other than that he is nothing more than just another right wing authoritarian nutjob.

Given how he has repeatedly said it should be legal for businesses to have a whites only policy... Well, I think a fair guess is he wants to "take his country back" from people he deems to not be white enough, Christian enough (only his branch of Christianity applies), or who speak with an accent different from him.

He seems to have the willingness to do whatever it takes to win that his father lacks. Unfortunately. As a result, I don't know what he actually would be like as President. Probably ultimately very inoffensive. I think he'd probably try to end the war on drugs and would go in for criminal justice reform, but beyond that, I really can't say.

Really what I guess I'm saying is that I wish we had an electorate capable of electing a libertarian more than a libertarian who's able to get elected. :/
