Pretty obvious both from the completely senseless act and his own statements, this guy was totally deranged. He didn't just snap, he spent weeks or months simmering.

I don't think it's been mentioned yet here, but the photographer's fiance was producing the newscast when the shooting happened.

It was her last show for the station. She'd recently gotten a job in a larger market.

Autism often prevents people from being able to form valid, and reasonable opinions and coupled with you low analytical analysis ability, one can understand why you manage to fail on so many levels.

I think it's time we broach the subject of black journalist violence, which of course includes sportscasters like OJ.

Sure, occasionally white journalists are involved in episodes of violence, especially the incident at KVWN San Diego, but mostly it's a problem with black journalists.

The guy was inspired to buy the gun after the Charlestown shooting, carves the names of the victims into the hollow points of his bullets, and he goes out and shoots white people.

Why is this not being considered a hate crime, exactly ?

Because blacks and other minorities can't commit hate crimes. The worst a non-white can do is misinterpret true Islam, which is a religion of peace.

I would've thought at least 30 or so.

And the last one on that list is pretty iffy. A journalist on the way home hit by a bullet intended for someone else? That's not especially work-related; that could've happened to anyone.

If you include accidents (vehicular and otherwise), the total is a lot higher.

I've known a lot of angry, mean people.

None of them have murdered two people and then sent a 23-page manifesto to a news network that said, among other things, that their god told them to do it.

That sounds pretty insane to me, but clearly your mileage varies.

I don't think you have it in you to be truly "mean".

Angry, mean, and sane would be "How can I use violence to advance my cause?"

Angry, mean, and insane would be "How can I lash out in a senseless way that accomplishes nothing, share my rambling manifesto with the world, and then attempt a ridiculously inept escape after I've already identified myself as the killer to law enforcement?"
