So, Millennials hate freedom? Non-white people are at 38%. Depending on the margin of error, there's no difference there. Of course, can't point that out because it's racist. There's a 10% difference between men and women, but can't point that out because it's sexist. Democrats have a pretty high percentage there too, but can't point that out because... bitching about Millennials is more fun? I guess.

You know what it is? It's the Millennials and their damn colleges! Because, wait, the numbers start going down as education increases? But, that doesn't fit the narrative!

Yes, let's just conveniently ignore that the majority of people in all groups think free speech is awesome because it give us a chance to berate a group that it's socially acceptable to bitch about. Yes, 40% of Millennials are idiots on this one issue. So what? 58% aren't. All people are idiots in some way or another.

Funny though - fascists and liberals often think along the same lines:
    1) they are superior
    2) everything they do is for "your own good" no matter how painful
    3) they want to limit freedoms versus expand freedoms
    4) believe that "the greater good" (as they interpret it of course) is more important than the individual

The question is ... how many of the older generations' respondents say "no" because they're genuinely committed to free speech, and how many say "no" to this particular question because they enjoy being racist but would happily say "yes" if it were speech they didn't like being curtailed?

Liberals are stuck thinking they are "liberal" in the classical sense. Of course nothing could be further from the truth. Liberals, the people, and liberal the idea parted ways a long time ago. Just look at the liberals, aka fascists, on any college campus. There is nothing liberal in a liberal who wants to shred the constitution and restrict freedom of speech.

You are such a fucking liar. There is a huge difference between fascists and the left. You are outright lying because there is nothing of fascism in what the dems and the left do. You have let the right wing lie machine make you into one dumb as shit fuck. You are stupid and using the words wrong. If you ever saw a fascist power structure you would have all of about three seconds of realization before you had your teeth rammed down your throat by a boot for having wrong thoughts. There is a huge difference between shining a light on the right wing's stupid statements and violently stomping out their ability to say them. You cannot say the democrats are weak gunless sheep waiting to be killed while also saying they are the strong hammer of fascism come to beat you into submission. You are a fucking liar. You are deliberately making statements you know to be contradictory. No, I am not a fascist for pointing out your hypocrisy.

There really is a huge difference between trying to sell a smaller cup of soda and stomping your windpipe to keep you from speaking. You are trying to get to the end of the slippery slope without taking the ride first. That is why your argument is full of shit. If we are going to go there let us do it. Under your description preventing abortions is fascism. Preventing gay marriage is fascism. Both of those have much stronger effects than trying to force you to eat healthy. Banning drugs is fascism. Banning mosques and islam is fascism.

So before the right wing crowd tells us all how they are so liberal and freedom loving people you might want to stop being fascist by your own definition. Oh, and as long as we are completely fucking up the meaning of the isms, I am a fucking socialist with bernie. Not that bernie is a hard core socialist, but you guys are really just fucking with the meaning of words.

Except for all the fascist policies like worker representation in management decisions, free paid holidays, guaranteed minimum wages, reallocation of farmland to poor people, mandated cartels (FDR did those too), wage and price controls (like FDR) etc. Mussolini declared that free markets were at the end of their usefulness. Private property and profits would still be allowed as incentives, but only as long as they served the interests of the state. Massive public works projects would move Italy forward. All major business and industrial decisions would be made by state agencies staffed with people representing both business and labor. FDR based much of the New Deal on Fascist economic programs.

With a random lying dingbat like you? No. I would have better luck finding the truth watching family guy. You arte still using the word wrong when you say the dems are doing those things. The only politician I know who was proud of being stabby stabby in high school was Ben Carson, he is a republican, and he made up the story. Your analogies are as realistic as any fantasy out there. Now please do go off and slay your windmills.

Yes they were. Mussolini, for those who can't bother to read a book, was arrested several times for being a Marxist agitator/propagandist before he became a leader in the Italian socialist party. He and many other socialists split with the Italian Socialist party because they differed with the international socialists on whether they should support WW-I. He and many others at first felt that the great struggle would help bring about the worker's revolution. So he created the Fascist party in 1915, and took power in 1922. Note that there wasn't really any time for him to go from Marxism and International Socialism, through something like Labor Party thinking, on to Christian Democrat, then over to Tory ideas, and then to Democrat type ideas, then to Republican ideas, before ending up pretty much at Hugo Chavez concept of state socialism.

All he did was fundamentally make one twist on Marxist thinking. Instead of struggle between classes, the reality was a struggle between states and everyone within a state had to work together to achieve the aims of the state. By putting experts in charge of all aspects of government, replacing competition with cooperation, they could have economic growth, fair wages for all, state supported retirement, and all the other goals of a civilized nation, leaving capitalism in the dust.

And of course those who oppose the obviously required unity and togetherness will get their face bashed in, just like Venezuela.

No system works entirely right on its own.

Capitalism is the least dysfunctional system, but even there are limits to that, namely medical. I still have reservations as to how efficency a pure UHC plan will be, but I don't agree that people should have to choose between going into bankruptcy to get life saving treatments or dying to spare their love ones what is often an insurmountable financial burden.

Welfare is broken, but it has the benefit of sustaining people enough to not riot on a daily basis and behead our leaders a la Marie Antoinette at a bare minimum,so there's that.

Well that just raises the question as to whether welfare is to benefit the people getting it or the rulers who would be getting their heads chopped off. :chris:

It's kind of like the devil's bargain everyone made with Social Security. Normally a family would have to take care of its elderly and in her later years your smelly aunt would move in with you. But by routing our money through the government you don't have to take her in even though you're out extra cash. But even more importantly, when you do see her on family holidays she's not bitching at you all day about money, she sits around bitching about Congressman and bureaucrats as you just nod your head, knowing you've completely scammed her.

Yeah. It works exactly like that. Spend your 40's and 50's listening to your parents, aunts, and uncles bitch at you nonstop like you were a worthless offspring whose own children are the spawn of the devil, or pay someone, maybe someone in government, to convince them that they are not your responsibility, but the responsibility of a loving and vast government bureaucracy that will keep them from having to suffer the indignity of moving in with their children, their child's worthless spouse, and the pair's misbegotten semi-retarded hell spawn.

The average working couple would pay a fuck of a lot of money to avoid that fate as long as they could keep all four parents from figuring it out. Thus was born the largest family/social conspiracy in history. The crotchety idiots fell for it, perhaps out of a deep conviction that your worthless self and dysfunctional family could never really provide for them in their old age anyway, so you were a losing bet compared to a vast government that had so much skill and money that it could provide electricity to all of Tennessee.

This Thanksgiving you might try revealing the secret to your parents. How we set up a system to make sure they don't take over the upstairs bathroom and intrude into your life every single fucking day until they keel over dead from your negligence. Because let's face it. You never loved them. You were a rotten child. Your children are rotten. You are a disappointment and a failure and your cabinets are arranged all wrong. You are disrespectful, married beneath you, and have no respect for what your parents went through to raise you.

*continues on for twenty more minutes, channeling Wolowitz's mother, Archie Bunker, and several other characters*

And that's why we set up Social Security.

It's gturner, so there's little shock. :borg:

But as usual, he's wrong. SSI was designed to cover widows in an era where considerably more men than women died early on and where few in the populace was living past seventy. No one predicted the WWII baby boom or the health care advance that sees more people living far longer than they once did, or the cultural shift where few families have more than two kids anymore.

    The madness rolls on

Exclusive: Occidental Professors Voting to Give Students Power to Report Them for Microaggressions

In recognition of their complicity in “structural racism and oppression” at Occidental College, the faculty will vote on a resolution that mandates diversity training, requires all academic departments to make racial sensitivity a component of in-class instruction, and allows students to “report microaggressions” between students and professors.

The proposal, dubbed the “Plan of Action,” was created by Occidental’s Faculty Council, which governs academic affairs on campus. Reason obtained a draft of the proposal, which will be presented to the entire Occidental faculty at a meeting on Tuesday. From its introduction:

We recognize and are inspired by the leadership of Oxy United for Black Liberation and their call for widespread institutional changes in the culture of the College. We affirm that Black lives matter and also affirm the broader ideals of social justice to which their call speaks. We recognize that the structural racism and other forms of oppression of the College violate our commitment to ensuring equity and excellence in our educational programs for all of our students. We also acknowledge that our collective inaction as a faculty body makes us complicit in the failures of the College to make our Mission a lived reality. For this we apologize for failing you, our students.

The Plan of Action seems to be a response to recent protests on campus; students occupied the administrative center and vowed not to leave unless Occidental President Jonathan Veitch agreed to resign. They also want Occidental to hire more professors of color and fund new diversity initiatives.

The students will get many of the things they want, if the full faculty body approves the Plan of Action. The resolution would mandate diversity and ally training for all faculty, beginning in January 2016. “We empower the Dean of the College to ensure compliance,” the plan reads.

1984 wasn't supposed to be a campus policy guidebook, but like the worst tyrannies, we see people adamantly demanding that it be inflicted on themselves.

Generations have been raised that have no real understanding or appreciation for the unique individual & civil rights granted by the U.S. Constitution.

But you know who does still appreciate the myth of the American Dream?

Immigrants. People who come from regions suffering under the iron fist of real totalitarian oppression, not the fantasy "oppression" petulant children like those at Mizzou whine about. Immigrants come here because they still believe that America is the land of hope. Where if you just work hard enough you can make something of yourself and enjoy lower-middle class luxury.
