    http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...ots-follow-fatal-police-shooting-in-milwaukee

    http://heavy.com/news/2016/08/milwa...-matter-fire-photos-police-involved-shooting/

"Police spotted a suspicious vehicle and they stopped the vehicle. As they stopped the vehicle, two individuals fled from the vehicle. One started heading west, another started heading east. A Milwaukee police officer with six years experience started chasing the individual who was running to the east. He ordered that individual to drop his gun. The individual did not drop his gun, held the gun, or I don’t know that for a fact, but had the gun with him. The officer shot several times. The individual was shot in the chest and once in the arm…that individual who is a 23-year-old man has died. The officer was wearing a body-camera. It is my understanding that the body camera was operating."

Guy had a stolen gun and lengthy police record, tried to flee the police and was shot. Guy was well liked, so hilarity ensued. Guess you never saw this on Happy Days & Laverne and Shirley.

I had to travel there from a small town to enlist in the Air Force in 1980, right downtown. The second the bus dropped us off at the military contracted hotel, pimps surrounded us trying to offer us hookers. :drama: The hotel staff were always chasing them away. We used to take school field trips to the Milwaukee Zoo when I lived in Illinois - the Milwaukee Zoo was better than the ones in nearby Chicago, but Chicago had better museums.

This was 1980 - human trafficking wasn't a big thing in Milwaukee. These were all local hookers or maybe nearby small town runaways. Regardless I didn't indulge, or in the drugs some people were trying to sell us. A lot of guys laughed at them trying to sell drugs - even in small town Wisconsin (population 1,000) everyone who wanted drugs could get them anytime so no big deal.

Jesus. Didn't even wait for some basic facts before shit went crazy.

Some of these protests (former ones) are valid but I think at this point too many people are pulling the tigers tail for bad reasons and one day the tiger is going to turn around and rip them up.

Looting and burning down a Gas Station and mini mart in their own neighborhood sure will show the man. Next week we will probably hear the usual complaints about there not being any jobs in the neighborhood after they looted and burned them all, but, hey, at least people got free cigs and Gatorades last night, right?

The fact that both were career criminals, in a stolen car, with stolen guns, and that the guy who dropped his gun wasn't shot while the guy who refused to drop his gun was the only one shot. By all means have an investigation but I would be very surprised if this wasn't found to be a good shooting.

I do know regina means "queen" - but in other languages it could mean something else. I have been to Saskatchewan briefly but not that city.

Some news guy was saying the US is becoming like a 3rd World country - mob rule and chaos without even caring about the actual facts of a situation. No quick answers to appease everyone in our melting pot, but hopefully we as a nation get our shit together before we balkanize ourselves off the fucking cliff.

No such thing as a "good shoot" in some neighborhoods no matter what the circumstances. Not saying that's right or wrong, it's just the way it is.
Fuck it, disarm the cops nation-wide as a one year experiment. Compile & examine the data and who knows? The crime rate may just plummet - we'll never know until we try it! :techman:

It has always been this way though the greatest generation did have a respect for authorities and expertise and we had an elite class who appealed to our better natures. What really harmed society was Regan killing the fairness doctrine. That is what really let the crazies out of their cage.

Of course they are. The state is run by noted racist scumbag Scott walker. He is looking for an excuse to bring in the national guard to clean up the poor brown trash. This is a Fucking guy who got hammered by trump and sucked his dick afterwards worse than that fat turd Chris Christie. This shooting might be fine, but you know the only purpose police have in a shithole like Wisconsin is to fuck around with the brown people and keep them out of walkers prissy white doners neighbohoods.

Milwaukee hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1908. Maybe somebody should check into that.

Baltimore hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1963, and Chicago hasn't had one since 1927.

Scott Walker also isn't governor of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Illinois, or Missouri, where similar riots have erupted.

How could you tell? There are so many people getting shot daily that rioting might reduce the level of violence.

Riots happen when the people rioting have absolutely no faith that working within the system will do any good.

Maybe we should think about why they might feel that way.

Rioting also happens when stupid people come together as a mob because they think their village is under a curse cast by witches.

The Democrats have kept telling black people that everything that happens to them is due to white racism. Might as well convince them that it's due to Jews giving them the evil eye, in which case they'd be burning down synagogues right about now.

Its one of those things where sometimes people feel that they've been shat on for so long that they just snap and say, "Fuck it!" Ever read about what happened immediately after Michael Brown was shot in Ferguson? Before people even knew who was shot or why, they started setting up an impromptu memorial and the police had one of the police dogs piss on the memorial, then drove a patrol car through it. I don't care if the shooting of Brown was justified, that was a dick move, which showed that the police had utter contempt for the people they're supposed to be protecting. Anyone who's surprised that there were riots after that is an idiot.

I remember a riot breaking out in Memphis because a tornado knocked down a wall at the Sears at Ridgeway Mall. The looters had cleared the place out before the first responders got there.

Maybe all of their "community organizers" keep repeating the myth of how the "system" keeps them down.

Most of them are little different from witch doctors who make a living promising to protect people from evil spirits - and keeping people convinced that they're under threat from evil spirits.

They already said why they "feel that way." Still not seeing the connection between feeling angry about injustice (in the form of police brutality) and burning down & looting your neighborhood.

No photos of video, no proof except for the word of one witness who saw the dog piss on the memorial.

It is an incredibly stupid reaction no matter which way it is spun. No private entity will want to move their business there in the future and the decent people who can afford to move will do so as soon as possible. All this because a portion of hooligans felt violence was the only means of expressing themselves.

No video of Jesus being nailed to the cross, but plenty of people believe that happened. No video of the body in the bathroom at the Super Dome, but plenty of people believe that happened as well. You're dealing with a highly charged atmosphere, where people are operating based off of emotions not reflecting on things that have happened. If the people in charge don't get out ahead of things, then there's going to be an explosion. Relations between the police and the African-American community in Ferguson were already shitty when Brown got killed. The failure of the officials of Ferguson to try and defuse the situation led to things getting out of hand.

If it hadn't been Brown's death that caused the problems, it would have been something else, sooner or later. The Arab Spring started because some guy set himself on fire because he wasn't allowed to see fruit, it flared out of control and toppled a number of governments because the people in power didn't react properly to it. Nashville has had a number of Black Lives Matter protests that have blocked interstates and disrupted things, but you don't hear about riots breaking out and people burning things because the police are generally being "hands off" on the protests, letting the protestors speak, and not rushing in to try and shut things down.

In Iraq, the US military found that the most effective way to prevent riots in Baghdad was to shut down the street vendors selling food in the square. People still would gather and mill about, but because they couldn't buy food in the square, they didn't stick around long, so there was no chance for agitators to build up momentum with the crowd and start a riot.
