'Teacher' implies intellect and wisdom. At Wordforge you display neither of those things. 'Cmon, you can't figure out that the very first African American President will not only be known, but written about and discussed for generations?

    'Teach' yourself.

Depends on who writes the history.

Control the present you control the past.

Control the past you control the future.

Remember when you desperately wanted to use Obama as your avatar but you didn't want to be accused of being a kiss-ass so you tricked all the staff into using dictators as their avatars so you could both use Obama and be hip and irreverent for implying Obama was a dictator when, in reality you looooved him? Good times.

Oh man! I'd completely forgotten about that. You got almost all the details wrong, but it was a great troll. Drove some of our simpler tighty righties insane.

Glad to see four years later it's still producing! :techman:

No matter what he does Barack Obama will have a minimal favorable ranking of at least 40%. That's his floor by virtue of being America's first black president.

Though he is still a novelty president by any means.

And no that is not a racist statement by any measure.

That may be his floor, but is irrelevant when discussing his ceiling.

Right now he is at 55% approval, where Reagan was at this point in his administration. However Obama's approval rating is on the upswing and will likely pass Reagan.

    Irrelevant.

Persons fading into obscurity will always be more "popular" than persons who actually did something.

In 30 years, Republican party debates will definitely be held at the Ronald Reagan Hospital for the Mentally Ill.

Goddamn, you are dense as fuck.

It's not just subject matter that's important. If it was, we could stick kids in front of a computer for eight hours a day and save some money.

    Stop teaching.

Are you suggesting that subject knowledge is not of significant importance?

I would wager good money (were I a gambler) that if I had failed the Praxis II exam on content knowledge rather than getting a near perfect score that some of you here would be slamming me for that. Claiming it was "evidence" I wasn't fit to teach.

And all the knowledge in the world means nothing when you have no social skills to convey that knowledge and continue to piss of your peers.

    They're both important.

What is it that makes him a "novelty" in your view, if not his race?

The demographics are not helping the Republicans long term. Continuing to focus your outreach on old white males is a disaster. The legacy of the Obama presidency will be seen in the expanding Electoral College map. States once thought exclusively Republican (Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Arizona) will continue to trend Democratic.

His legacy will also be seen in the Supreme Court. A 5-4 or 6-3 liberal majority would represent a generational shift. Individual rights would be given greater weight and large corporate interests would be more likely to settle out of court to atone for their malfeasance.

The reason Obama's popularity has gone up lately is that Democrats look at Hillary, look at the Obamas, and start chanting "Four more years!" - for Obama, not Hillary.

The fact that he's the first black President is enough for him to be remembered for the rest of time.
