Shocker: In Wake of Hillary's Defeat, Donations to Clinton Foundation Dry Up

I forget who said it, but what happened is that their influence peddling organization just ran out of inventory.

    :bergman:

If it was a real charity the donations would be virtually unaffected, but it was never a real charity.

But you Hillary supporters can help out! Give to Hillary in this, her time of need!

Besides, she might soon have a boat load of legal bills to pay off.

I am shocked--shocked!--that donations to Hillary's "charity" would dry up the very instant the possibility of her affecting public policy disappears. I guess people just lost their charitable impulse all of a sudden. :diacanu:

When you are selling influence it turns out you have to actually have some influence to sell.

@Paladin: pro-tip, it always pays to fact check a gturner post. This one regards not something post election, but 2015, when the Clinton's transitioned from actively fundraising for the foundation to actively running a Presidential campaign.

And the Wikileaks had a lot of e-mails on why they had to cut back on fundraising to avoid getting in even deeper legal problems with foreign donations.

That's actually true. Like a typical third world caudillo, the Clintons had to stay in office to stay out of jail. The House still has four ongoing investigations and the FBI has an even larger number.

Gee, so where did all that money go?

Thankfully, the Clintons will now have more time to fundraise for good causes.

So now Trump is saying he won't pursue any investigations into email server/Clinton foundation shenanigans.

    Damn. That's gotta suck. :(

That came from FBI director Comey, who was covering for Hillary anyway. And everyone on the right is holding their breath thinking "Don't draw down an Obama pardon. Don't draw down an Obama pardon." Everyone has to keep smiling and whistling till Trump is sworn in.

I never really had a problem with the pay to play policy with the Clinton Foundation. If anything I'm a bit jealous, that was some serious dosh. I mean my time isn't worth what she was charging, but it certainly isn't free. If you want to sit down with me, that's going to cost you at least a $700 meal.

I mean how do people really think the world works?

Only enough to keep several hundred FBI agents busy for the better part of a year, along with four Congressional committees.

$2 Billion dollars worth of public corruption, three-hundred and seventy times larger than the Teapot Dome scandal, Washington's previous corruption record.

Nope. It came from Kellyanne Conway.

And Breitbart is not happy about it. :(

Attempting to prosecute Hillary Clinton would be lose-lose for everyone. It would guarantee no cooperation at all from Democrats on the Hill and elsewhere for probably years to come and make any kind of post election reconciliation basically impossible.

Not to mention galvanizing Democrats in the 2018 mid terms in an effort to protect the Clintons.

But Trump wouldn't have anything to do with the prosecution. Prior to Obama, corrupt politicians were routinely prosecuted by the FBI and there wasn't anything partisan about it. Get caught with a freezer full of cash - go to jail.

Well, according to Conway, "I think when the president-elect, who's also the head of your party, tells you before he's even inaugurated that he doesn't wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message, tone, and content".

    Breitbart is really pissed.

    '

It wouldn't matter. People would associate any prosecution with Trumps victory and basically consider him to be a "bad sport" with an prosecution being seen as a "winners justice".

No, they wouldn't, just as they didn't when prior corrupt officials were prosecuted. FBI agents find evidence of massive corruption. A grand jury is seated. The jurors recommend charges, and a prosecutor pursues it. A court date gets set. A jury is called. A case is heard.

That's how our legal system is supposed to work.

To allow politics to interfere in any way is to make our former system of rule-of-law into a political system that no one will trust or respect.
