Why is gturner banned?

I haven't been keeping up on things, but it looks like they just dumped him cuz they didn't like him.

I didn't like the bastid, but I didn't like a lot of bastids the owners never nutted up and banned.

Take out the trash consistently, or don't do it at all.

He was a cancer. As already stated, there isn't a more precise, rule based answer. Things are going to change around here or Wordforge is going to become another 4Chan. Nobody wants to pay for that shit, so some changes are coming. And no, they aren't all worked out, so don't ask. But if it looks like 4chan (and some common sense is required here), then it probably won't fly. In the mean time, I suggest people enjoy this period when the evil owners are a bit busy with real life.

Oh, and I decided to ban Faceman for calling Anna a Tijuana donkey fucker. That is not called for, ever.

I don't really pay attention to the drama, and don't have a "side" here because I never worshiped the sacredness of the original Wordforge model. You do a thing as long as it works and when someone comes along and takes advantage of the way things are done to piss all over everyone, then you either get used to golden showers or turn off the tap. I don't think either solution is inherently "wrong" - just pick one.

But i do agree with Dicky, and seem to recognize the sentiment in your reply, there are a handful of folks riding the same hobby horse here, if we're sick of it then enforce it consistently. That seems a reasonable requirement.

This is more troublesome than the other bans. Out of all the things Faceman has said and done to earn previous bans, this ranks pretty low given it was in the Red Room. Personal attacks against users have always been allowed in the Red Room. Much worse things have been said in the RR, including against Anna. (I obviously disagree with Face entirely but he should not have been banned for it)

How long is his ban for? And was this ban issued in the context of the ongoing board drama? I.e. can we expect similar personal attacks in the RR to be OK again once this all subsides?

In other words: "because we felt like it."

If you the owners are going to ban people simply because you don't like them--spare me the cancer bit; gturner was one of the few people to stir the pot here--then this place has fallen very far from what it was.

No offense but I think this is a very poor decision made in the heat of the moment and should be reversed. It was in the RR, Anna is a big girl, and for both wordforge and @Faceman it was no way close to the worse thing that's ever been said.

I think everybody from all sides needs to take a huge step back. We're in a downward spiral and everyone taking a chill pill will help us pull out.

To those thinking this is the end of WF and self-imposing an exile, take the weekend to mull it over. We've seen worse shit than this.

@gturner was indeed toxic. But the rest of your post sounds as if you are giving up on the free speech experiment that is WF in a major way, and that is both sad and unwarranted. We've been going for more than a decade and don't look like 4chan at all. Some posters look like they are posting there, but that just exposes them and their shit as helpless and pitiful here.

We have a board where there is constant racism and nobody campaigns about it but me.....yet this is ban worthy? It's become a parody.

It's farcical, and it's all about Gul, not about the board. It's why I have been calling him prideboy and talking about grudges for so long (which has naturally gotten me placed on his shit list). Contrary to what people believe, I'm not that poor a judge of personality and ti was obvious from even before he was offered the keys to the kingdom that he was not objective and unbiased and someone who could separately their own emptions and dislikes for others from their job as owner/mod...and certain people need to put aside their willingness to see posters he wants gone removed as well and otherwise stop giving him a pass because they think he's okay due to his politics. He talks of gturner being a cancer - but he is also the cancer of the mods and equally needs to be removed. In my opinion, there is no place for dismissive arrogance, personal vendettas, scattershot modding and unquestionably polarising figures who are incapable of self reflection - and the fact that the second he become a mod a good number of long terms veterans left should speak volumes about just how polarising he is and why is was never fit to assume that role, that he has gone on to prove that in spades vindicates their concerns. It's even more galling that in the interim at least one person who left because of him ownership ending up passing away.

I got tired of Lanzman's laziness and his willingness to entertain the bias of Tamar. But christ has this ever proven the old adage "the grass isn't always greener on the other side".With the exception of Xenforo, the new owners have brought no positive changes and now to due to arrogance we see WF on a trajectory towards unknown change will little more than a Trump like secret plan to placate us.

Maybe it's because it's 2am and I'm tired, but I'm finding this ironic.

The difference is, I'm not in charge. I'm the person who has been coming here for 14 years and on notice direct notice from Gul that he is at risk of sanctions if I criticise mod decisions at a time when the mods are threatening to fundamentally change the nature of the board and ban people at will.

I don't need to "chill", because I know that "chilling" isn't going to change my mind - precisely because I've watched this coming for the past few years and my opinion isn't likely to change....and of you honestly, honestly think this latest bullshit evidences said person's suitability then you're on something that I need plenty of it seems.
