A new Lifetime movie... No wait... So we like to sleep in on weekends, to counter the lousy sleep we get on work nights. Sunday, we finally came to fully at 9AM. Three hours extra sleep! Usually, that feels just great. But the extra three hours of sleep were intermittent for me - wake up, sleep long enough to dream, wake up, dream a little more... the stupid thing is that I kept falling back into the same dream, in episodes: I was at work, though in some large work area rather than my cubicle. I had three important projects to do - one Powerpoint presentation, and two model airplanes to build. Now, I love model planes, but I spend a month on one, and they needed these two done by end of day, AND the Powerpoint too. Not gonna make it without staying late! While I was sloppily smacking a plane together, someone across the room was going thru a draft of the PPT on a big screen, and I could see the last few slides were tables with a ton of copy-typing for me to do. I really hate that, and it takes me forever. I needed a break... When I came back from my break, some of the new, young, fresh-out-of-college engineers in the building (I swear they look 16!) had taken over my work table, shoved my models into a box and put them away, and taken the PPT draft for their own project. I blew up, yelled, threw papers at them, failed to make an impression. I must have stormed out. Next thing, I was angrily walking the halls on the way to the men's room (the halls were suspiciously similar to my high school - still! at 59!!). The same thing that happens in real life was happening - even in the 100-yard hallways at work, some schmuck was walking 3 feet behind me making me nervous, people were coming out of side doors bumping into me, and someone was blocking the men's room door checking his phone. Naturally when I got IN the men's room, I found it out of service, with plugged-up holes in the floor instead of toilets. I was just considering pissing in one when I finally woke up fully. And had to pee. I usually enjoy remembering my dreams, but that was the most stressful extra sleep ever.
I've had the plugged up holes instead of toilet dream. I don't remember where they were though. Might have been at my old high school or one of the places I worked.
You fell for it hook, line and sinker. Your boss is planting these stressful "work" dreams in your head, so that your actual work will seem like a much happier workplace in comparison, thus increasing your productivity.
And this morning's sleeping-in dream, for something completely different: I was minding the apartment of a childhood friend while he was away. This included a 2-car garage off the building's parking lot. (This was no building I'd ever been in). I was just finishing checking the (empty) garage, and I'd just pulled down the store-grating style (not solid!) doors, when a man approached from the parking lot. He was in his 40s, balding, dark hair and a thin mustache. He had crazy eyes, which he was darting left and right to see if he was being seen. He wasn't based on anyone I knew. He carried what looked like a Thompson sub-machine gun (straight-mag version, not drum-mag) in a soft, fitted gun sock. I was inside the garage, so I wasn't particularly disturbed by this, but the doors were grates rather than solid, so he could certainly have shot me. But he made no move to remove the gun from its sock. "Are you afraid of me?" he said, still looking around and not making eye contact. "Heh?" I said. "Are you on any medication that might have a negative reaction to being afraid of me?" "Hang on a minute," I said, "I just have to do something." Keeping cool, but slightly worried he might shoot me in the back, I walked casually to the garage's back door, and just left.
"Are you afraid of me?" he said, still looking around and not making eye contact. "Heh?" I said. "Are you on any medication that might have a negative reaction to being afraid of me?" Are you taking any prescription medication?
