At least, Trump quoted what he said was a "well-known Irish proverb" at the St. Patrick's celebrations to which the Irish pretty uniformly said "ummm, never heard it!" and later appears to be from a poem by a Nigerian writer (and a Muslim-sounding one at that - Albashir Adam Alhassan). Oops! Perhaps he'll regale us on Burns Night with the tale of the Scottish War of Independence from the evil haggises. Haggii. Hag... oh, fuck it.
Oh, dear, it seems Trump wasn't the only one making a cock-up today (Cock up, incidentally, can also define my reaction to T.R.'s post): https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...m-irish:homepage/story&utm_term=.38d82118accb
Google fail! Also, our cowardly PM backtracked on negative comments he'd made about Trump during his campaign. Good thing he's due to resign soon. (We'll probably have our first openly gay leader subsequently.)
Obama says top of the morning while in Ireland and it is quant and endearing. A Republican does the same and it is the worst offense ever. These guys are asshats but surely you and the Irish media can come up with something of more substance?
