It has it's moments, but overall I didn't care that much for the book.

It's telling the editing room where they're gonna be splicing the film together, duh.

How can you not love a movie where the bad guy who idolizes Freddie Mercury and wears a vest made out of beer can pull tabs?

The movie is consistently inconsistent. According to the opening crawl, the planet has pretty much ran out of oil, yet Arnie has no trouble (save for when he's ratted out) in grabbing a flight to Hawaii. If there's almost no oil, then how is that there are flights to Hawaii? The only civilian home we see is that of Maria Conchita Alonso, and all we see of the general population is either the folks at the studio (either the crowds outside to greet Richard Dawson as he shows up) or the crowds in the burned over area betting on the show or the camp Arnie ends up in after he escapes from prison. We really don't have a good picture of the society (at least as far as the film is concerned). For all we know, the rest of the planet could be living in a Star Trek-type world.

Yeah, sure, that's unlikely, but so is much of the movie. Ever seen Network? A brilliantly scathing satire on TV, that along with Robocop, this movie tries to emulate, and utterly fails. Both of those movies recognized that if you wanted the audience to buy into parts of their premise, you needed to show a larger world. Even Arnold thought that the film failed in this respect.

Looking at the names I am interested. I just watched Baby Driver thinking I would hate it because it looked predictable and was going to be ridiculous like the fast and furious had become, but I liked it. I really liked the style and characters.

Everyone involved in it seems to have had decent stylized movies made. So I hope for a good new movie. I think it would be time for a reboot with modern actors. Maybe take some time with it and split it into two movies produced together so you have a quick follow up cliffhanger thing going on. Take a little bit more time with the villains and the fighting along with the resistance and getting control of the media.

    They probably won't.
