I fear the terrorists are indeed winning, in that it's looking more and more likely that to stop these extremists we're going to have to curtail certain rights. A lot of these fuckers are known to law enforcement and/or the intelligence community, but Western society's current legal regime doesn't really allow for the type of preventative detention necessary.

yes I love the "if you see something, say something" mindset, yet nobody does shit with the information anyway. On a much smaller scale the fucking US Army had this happen with the military doctor who killed a bunch of folks. Many of his fellow officers did indeed "see something and said something" but the fucking Army ignored them because nobody at the top of the pecking order wanted to be accused of picking on a minority (muslim) because it would end their career progression. Not saying this is happening in Europe, but if "political correctness" is a thing there, can you blame the terrorists for taking advantage of this weakness?
