Reading comprehension is your friend. I specifically said NY. And I wonder what makes you feel entitled to further information about me when you're just an anonymous Internet persona.
Yanno, I have no idea who wrote that (is there a way to find out?). It's sparse, but accurate.

What is it that intrigues you?

That's not how it works. Unless/Until you have tenure, you can come up for review at any time.

    That's the Hollywood model.

Ask Ashley Judd or Mira Sorvino.

Are you sure that's a union thing and not a civil service thing? The non-union admin employees at my University have a rule where, if you do layoffs/firings then a laid off employee can bump another employee with the same title out of their position if the laid off employee has more years of employment in that title. It's not exactly last hired first fired, but it's similar.

Plus, you weren't a member of the union, yet you were subject to their rules? Seems odd.

I've read some of your work before and I knew of your issues with Probe. But, also, you are a Time best selling author. You appear on the Star Trek IV DVD commentary. You co-wrote a novel with Nichelle Nichols.

You wrote a biography of Angela Lansbury.

    Wow. Today I Learned.

Well, the Times list was because of the Star Trek name, when only a handful of Trek novels was published every year. The DVD was a question of happy coincidence. John Hertzler has always been friendly with the novelists and, when he was directing the extra content he asked a few of them "Who knows the most about Vulcans" and my name came up. :D

As for the Lansbury bio, it was what's known as an "unauthorized" biography, meaning I never met the lady at the time I was writing (however, I did stand on the same checkout line in my local supermarket with her many years later). These bios are done mostly on research, and my agent had another client who worked for the NYPost and got me into the archives. (No Internet, just stacks of newspaper clippings - reviews, interviews, etc.) From there I hit the Donnell Library's film and theater archive (reference books, couldn't check them out), and the Lincoln Center photo archive.

Before I even started, I contacted Ms. Lansbury's attorneys for permission. Got a very gracious letter back saying she was not interested in overseeing the work or the manuscript, but wishing me luck. My agent sent her a copy of the finished work.

Nowadays I could probably work a lot faster without having to schlep all over Manhattan, but it was an interesting experience.

Nah. I never bother celebrities in public, or even at official autograph signings. (I did get a few things signed for my kids when they were younger, but I prefer to stand on the sidelines and just watch people interact with each other.)

The only one I regret is sitting in the row behind Edward James Olmos on an almost-empty flight from L.A. to NY circa 1994. The funniest thing was that the book I'd brought with me was Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Had I known he'd be Captain Adama someday, would I have at least said Hello? I dunno. Awkward situation - trapped for 5+ hours in a plane with a babbling fan. Not something I'd wish on anybody. But I did enjoy the serendipity of the book and the actor. Real Life is stranger than fiction. :)

Dayton, we all know what your compensation was. It's public knowledge and came up in one of the many threads that devolved into being all about you.

Be honest. You were paid shit. I don't know how you supported a family on such a salary, other than the fact you live in one of the poorest regions of the country and it was what you were all used to.

Again, be honest. You may have been told this to soften the blow, but this isn't entirely true.

    A) Compared to what I made in retail for many years, even in salaried retail management, my teaching jobs paid me very well.
More importantly I made more than my sister who was only a teacher and not a teacher/coach/bus driver.

    B) I can only go with what I'm told by the people in authority.

Presumably both @garamet and Gene DeWeese were compensated for their work.

If you hire somebody to paint your house, then decide you want it a different color and hire somebody else to paint over what the first person did, you still have to pay both of them.

I've written about it extensively here: http://www.margaretwanderbonanno.com/bio.htm and either @Dayton3 didn't read it or doesn't believe it (he's already admitted he doesn't read links I post because I'm the one who posted them).

Gene and I maintained a correspondence for years until his death, including a He Said/She Said panel at Maquis Gras in 1997 (which is, not incidentally, where I met Jack; so good things come out of bad). Gene was a prince. A shy, soft-spoken man who wrote from the heart. I still miss him. :(

No, I haven't, though we live in the same town. (Then again, I may have passed him on the street and not known who he was.) Haven't done any cons in a while, either.

Oh, yeah, Hertzler's one of a kind. Did you know he's running for Congress? http://electjghertzler.com/

He is incredibly direct. Hopefully, voters will find that refreshing. I have been subbed to his FB page for a long time, now, and he is always advocating social equality and financial responsibility. If that does ring true with people, he could very well win. After all, if we elected Trump, we can elect someone who will fix shit rather than break it.

Of course he disagrees. Dayton seems hell-bent on being his own uneducation system. I've held off on this for a long time, but just reading his posits on history, the methods he's talked about using to teach, and his lack of critical thinking skills, I truly feel sorry for the children he has taught.

Well, I'd have to know more details (probably not worth getting sidetracked here), but Hertzler's outspoken on a lot of things, particularly environmental impacts. Maybe his sources weren't accurate? I dunno.

In any case, the 23rd is an interesting anomaly in usually-Red Upstate NY, given the number of colleges and universities in the district. Between that and the built-in visibility from Star Trek (not to mention going on the road as Mark Twain), I think JGH has a good chance. And, if elected, don't expect him to sit quietly in the back row. ;)

I believe that disabled people should have access to jobs but those jobs should be within their different skill set. I’m not sure autisics should be teaching middle schoolers. It just doesn’t make sense and the harm to the children outweighs the good of employing a disabled person. Perhaps a career at Lowe’s or Waffle House is more appropriate.
