One of the two biggest weaknesses of my state is listed as a "lack of inclusiveness". More than a few people would consider that a strength.
Clearly the US needs to abolish the open borders between state's before these shithole state's populations flee to the others.
new mexico is now #1 in car theft, and Albuquerque has 5 homicide detectives, for a city that has a new body turn up every other day or so.
Yeah, there are backwards shit holes, it is a fact. The vast majority do not live in these shit holes though.
so what (pray tell) is "inclusiveness?" Is that the same as "diversity?" Because Mississippi is about as "diverse" as you can get. Google the demographics if you must. I said it before but it bears repeating...........zip codes matter as far as the crime goes. As far as the health & fitness goes, fuck ignorant lazy fucks no matter what race, political leanings or education level in which they fall.
that's where statistics (no matter how much I love crunching data) don't always tell the whole story. If the study is gathering total numbers then the more populated/urban areas will have a higher crime rate and (generally) greater total numbers of crimes. Also urban areas have a greater pound-for-pound crime rate because certain demographic groups (which commit violent crimes at a higher rate) tend to live in urban areas. Don't shoot the messenger!
This is a very interesting theory. As long as there have been urban settlements, all over the world, with all kinds of “demographics,” those urban areas have always had a higher crime rate. Yet somehow, in the current era, urban crime is entirely due to “certain demographics,” wink wink. Amazing.
wink wink if this were 100 years ago that "certain demographic" in some cities would be the Irish. Would that be acceptable to your sensibilities?
Not really. The common factor is poverty. Poverty leads to crime. Cities in the US have historically imported poverty (both from abroad and internally) and created and exported middle class folks. This means that without controls on movement* our cities will always have a large portion of poor folks. *Explicit ones aren't legal, however zoning is often used to de facto limit movement.
So, a list compiled by some intern at CNBC that predictably lists southern and flyover states as the worst places in the country to live. Color me shocked. And Dayton's right - using today's favorite SJW catchphrase "lack of inclusiveness" is a dead giveaway to the bullshit nature of this list. Translation: the Pride Flag isn't flying over the state legislature, and there aren't trannie bathrooms in every elementary school.
Poverty is a factor, but then again so is wealth. Cities have more of it, more opportunities for creating or appropriating it, and more competition for it. Urbanization is driven in large part by people trying to escape the truly desperate poverty of their rural villages, and while they still may be poor in the city they are better off in a lot of ways. Plus it’s easier to get away with a crime when you’re an anonymous face in a crowd than if everybody you meet knows your whole family going back six generations.
Well, if you'd bothered to read the article, you'd know that Oklahoma was listed at #7, and the main reason the author cited is his conclusion that all Okies are fat and don't exercise. Yeah, that's some real scientific analysis right there....
Does it really say "all," or is that your spin? Looking in the mirror, perhaps? You have evidence to the contrary? No, of course you don't, dum-dum.
You need to learn to avoid absolutes, particularly the ones that invariably bite you in the ass. So what did you do on the Fourth of July?
A weakness of 7 out of 10 of these states is "lack of inclusiveness". So this is the point America has come to as a culture. If your state doesn't have an abundance of Thai restaurants and major Gay Pride events you are somehow a "shithole".
