Bloomberg and anyone encouraging him to get into the race.

Here's a Washington Post article on the subject.

So looking up the folks named in the article you have a couple billionaires, a multi-millionaire (and husband of Fox News host Greta Van Susteren) and some Blue Dog Dems that are worried about Warren and Sanders being too Progressive (because running a centrist last time worked out so well).

    Okay.

^You're among those who trust polls, no?

Who's in the moderate lane after Joe? Sen Harris, Mayor Pete and Klobuchar? The Dem pool that finds that group inadequate to the challenge is quite large.

This is as usual bullshit and sloppy reporting from The Young "Genocide? What Genocide?" Turks.

Bloomberg was a Democrat his whole life until he wanted to be mayor of New York City. When he saw the crowded field of Democrats running for the office and only one other person was running as the Republican he switched parties so he could have a clear field.

While he was Republican mayor he switched to Independent.

So from 1942 to 2001 he was a Democrat. From 2001 to 2007 he was a Republican. From 2007 to 2018 he was an independent. Now he's back to being what he always was: A democrat.

There is little to no chance bloomberg is going to win the dem primary. However, he might run independent if he makes a show.

my initial fear is that he would suck the wind out of the dems and hand trump a victory if he ran third party, but now I think he is more dangerous for trump. Bloomberg is a republican who wants gun control. Yes, you can say his large soda ban was librul fascism, but the reality is that it was more of an excuse to sell more soda because no one is just going to drink less, they just buy more to satisfy themselves.

The dems are riding a wave of increased minority and youth participation in elections. Those people are not huge fans of wall street. They are the OWS people. The big chunk of wall street people that can be sucked away are the rich conservatives who have been propping things up for trump's horrible policies so they can get the tax breaks he promised. Bloomberg is going to give them their tax breaks, corporate welfare, and he is not the hot mess trump is. You are giving all the never-dem/never-trump voters a candidate if bloomberg runs third party. All of this while the majority of the dem voters are well aware the consequences of weakening the dem candidate means 4 more years of trump. It is not a time for a protest vote even if warren or bernie is the candidate.

I am thinking a bloomberg third party run is guaranteed to sink the republican ship by making a corporatist independent.

Obviously I don't support Bloomberg but it's just bullshit to claim he only registered as a Democrat in 2018 and before that he was a Republican. It makes it seem as if he was always a Republican.

If you are talking NY politicians a NYC conservative dem and socially liberal republican are the same thing. The NY political spectrum differs from the country. Rudy would not have been a republican in a red state when he was in NY.

The Clintons ruined the Democratic Party.

We need a purging. I don’t like to see an intra-Party fight but it has to happen sometime.

Might as well be now. I’d rather the Democrats stand for something and lose an election than run as a bunch of weak centrists/corporatists/republican lites.

If that’s what you want why not just vote republican? What’s the point?

Guys like Joe Biden publicly admit to whoring themselves out to big money donors and special interests. If that’s what the Democrats are offering then let Trump burn it all down. The whole system is garbage anyway.

And the Democratic Party was happy to support Bernie during some of his political campaigns. His status only became important in 2016 when he was running against Hillary. But hey, I really don't give a shit about what Bloomberg did before now. I just want him to be on stage during a debate to watch the rest of the Dems rip him to pieces.

    Wallace?
What'sHE got to do with anything?

And Mondale, like every Dem nominee since McGovern, was thoroughly moderate (albeit Obama nicely created the illusion he was more progressive, he was a very cautious man and his most progressive trait was being elected while black)

The only one who leaned into it and made it work was Bill Clinton and who knows if his charm would have been enough to pull that off in a 2 horse race.

That's the ACTUAL problem Dems have in succeeding - they let the right wing define the narrative and then fight within hat frame, on their opponents territory.

Every four years GOP is like "Yeah, lol, Dems better not elect a progressive or we'll crush them!" and Dems, stupidly, just concede the narrative and run to the middle - which is actually what Braer Rabbit wanted them to do all along.

But....but...his billionaire friends ASK him to save them. He's basically a White Knight on a Noble Steed to Wall Street.

(disclaimer - i don't think he'll ACTUALLY end up running, but just the storyline helps Warren/Sanders because it blows a hole in the narrative that Biden, or some other moderate, is by definition the strongest candidate against Trump. If he never opens him mouth again MB has already boosted the efforts of the progressive candidates)
