I agree with what he’s saying, but even after someone like Martha McSally has lost to Mark Kelly it’s not like she’s going to learn anything from it. There is a bubble of far right lobbyists, Fox News personalities, evangelical leaders, and Trump sycophants that just move even farther right when they lose an election.
It's almost like the entire fiasco (just like the one in the 90s) is a completely partisan political crapshow.
There's not a lot of time left for someone to say something more stupid today, so I am gonna go ahead and call it and give you the trophy for today.
of...fucking...course can you just give us a list of what you think isn't the fault of the Republicans? It'll save a lot of time & effort.
Things are still doing great down here, pal. If anything, what's bringing you down is the brain drain of some of your best and brightest who produce more than they consume and want to profit from their labor and entrepreneurship - they keep moving to the US, heh. But there'll always be a place for your subsidized asses, as America's (unofficial) 51st state; unless of course we buy Greenland.
I agree with the GAO assessment that withholding the aid to Ukraine was illegal. I do not think that has much to do with impeachment, though, because it's at the level of things that almost all presidents do from time to time: they will bend the law to put political pressure on someone, or to further their policies, or something like that. Not honest and not acceptable, but not uncommon either and not impeachable, unless you want to impeach just about every president after a year or three in office. What makes Trump's action impeachable is not the withholding of aid, but the reason for withholding it. Even though he won't admit it, he knows very well that one of the factors that allowed him to squeeze by in 2016 was help from the Russians. So this time he is directly attempting to do something similar, by trying to force the Ukrainians to investigate Biden for corruption. It is clearly for personal gain, in order to win re-election in November. He wants to be able to condemn Biden during the election so he can say, "This guy is corrupt! Ukraine is holding an investigation into how corrupt he is!" Even if the result is, "Sorry, we didn't find anything," the damage will be done (he hopes). That is what is impeachable. Abusing presidential power in order to further one's policies is common. I wish there was something that could be done about it, but just about everyone does it. Lincoln did it. Roosevelt did it. Kennedy did it. Both presidents Bush did it. Obama did it. But abusing your power for personal advantage is crossing a line that should never be crossed. That is when you have gone from being an agressive president to being a corrupt politician. There is no possible doubt in my mind that Trump has been a corrupt politician from Day 1. But with this action, he finally did something everyone could put their finger on. Those who pretend that it is not an impeachable offense are simply partisan hacks who put party ahead of integrity. I used to be a very convinced Republican, but I became disappointed with the Republicans under Reagan. I still voted for them, though. Then, under George W. Bush, I became dissillusioned with the Republicans, and stopped voting for them. But it took Trump, and the way almost all the rest of the party is reacting to him to make me disguested with the Republicans.
Here's hoping this bullshit, sham impeachment is over by the end of the week. For three years the democrats have done NOTHING in term's of the people's business- just endlessly raved and tried to find a way to illegally overturn the last election, since not enough extra boxes of 'misplaced' ballots showed up for them to steal it the old fashioned way.
https://www.vox.com/2019/11/29/20977735/how-many-bills-passed-house-democrats-trump 400 bills passed in the House, 80% died in the Senate. In addition to fulfilling the Constitutional duty to hold the President accountable for his crimes and abuses of power.
If it's a sham, then why not let it continue? Surely the longer it goes on, the more people will see it as being such and the greater likelihood there is of not only Trump being re-elected, but the Democrats getting tossed out of Congress en masse so that the Republicans can get on with the business of the day unencumbered. Isn't that what you want?
Hey, 'member when Mitch held up a Democrat-nominated Supreme Court Justice because "it's getting near election time" and then when asked if he'd do the same close to the 2020 election said "fuck no"? There's one fucking side stonewalling shit in the US, and it ain't the Dems.
to hold the President accountable for his crimes and abuses of power? I thought that was the job of the media/leftforge/99.9 percent of western Europe?
So full of shit. If it’s such a sham, then it’s Trump’s own fault. He’s the one that prevented key people from testifying. His NSA, his chief of staff, his Secretary of State. If they have exculpatory info, he should’ve been happy to have them put it out there for consideration... The fact is that EVERYONE who testified under OATH has said that what he did was an illegal quid pro quo that was meant to benefit him personally... and it compromised our own national security. Your prez will be a shit stain of history.
