They don't trust democracy, unless it's in their hands.

    Yeah.

    For Trump.

Susan Rice who knowingly lied about Benghazi. You know where she went on several news shows and blamed the attack on an internet video that resulted an American ending up in jail. That she and the Obama administration knew was a lie. That she went on TV and said it was spontaneous riots but she had been told before going on TV that senior officials (in Obama administration) had already known the attack was complex and planned in advance.

Susan Rice who in 1996 convinced the Clinton White House to refuse a Sudanese offer to turn al Qaeda’s Osama bin Laden over to the United States. The guy responsible for the World Trade Center bombing and than eight years later the 9/11 terrorist attack on the same buildings.

Susan Rice who lied about Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl by claiming he was a hero on the battlefield and had been captured. This lie ultimately cost her her job and a larger appointment to be Clinton's replacement as Secretary of State. Rice had to withdraw her nomination before the Senate hearing.

Now we also know that it was Susan Rice who unmasked the names of Trump associates overheard in conversations with foreign nationals picked up by U.S. intelligence during the Trump campaign and transition. She claimed to have nothing to do with it but than had to admit that she increased her requests to the intelligence agencies to unmask as the campaign heated up and into the transition period. Once she was expose she admitted to the unmasking but claimed that she didn't leak anything to anyone. (and if you believe that I've got a contact in Nigeria that won the lottery and needs your help to cash the ticket in.)

Susan Rice who lied about Syrian chemical weapons stocks being removed. This lie was so outrageous even the liberal media started attacking her. The Washington Post, suck-ups to Obama, gave Rice four out of four Pinocchios on that one.

In 1994 Rice was a key player in the Clinton administrations decision to not intervene in the Rwandan genocide. Than she played cover-up convincing the administration to remove terms such as genocide and ethnic cleansing from CIA and State Department memos related to Rwanda. “If we use the word ‘genocide’ and are seen as doing nothing, what will be the effect on the November [congressional] election?” Rice said, according to Obama’s UN Ambassador Samantha Power. In her favor she may have regretted this one because she also told Power, “I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again, I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required.” in regards to Darfur and other hot spots where the UN refused to act. That America should go in alone if necessary to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

She's also one of those fools who believes that Islamic terrorism is caused by poverty and not radical Islamist ideology.

    Yeah. Sure.

    Let Biden choose her......

Ahhhhh but I've seen lots of Bernie Bros talking about going third party.

    They are true believers.

I say we should help them in their cause and encourage them to be a third party.

Random thoughts: Paraphrasing Dr. King: the arc of the universe of is long, but it bends toward justice. Sneering at and dismissing moderates won't speed up that arc. It's worth remembering that it was the great anti-communist Nixon who opened the doors to "Red" China and Lyndon Johnson of Jim Crow era Texas who signed the Civil Rights act. Harry S Truman ordered the desegregation of the Armed Forces. "Radicals" are never satisfied and that's perhaps as it should be. "Reasonable" people are not inclined to upset the status quo, but it is the "Radicals" of today who often become the "moderates" of tomorrow. It seems to me that Bernie wants one more shot at Biden and one more moment on the big stage to push his "radical" agenda. He frankly admitted that he has not been able to convince a broad swath of democrats that he's the best choice to beat Trump. He wants one more shot to do that. I think the next round of primaries will be his last hurrah if he can't stop Biden's momentum.

I was not evaluating her on her palatability to the GOP; it's unlikely Biden could find any viable running mate that would meet that criterion.

But, as a check-all-the-boxes candidate, Rice is a pretty good fit (though I think she's a Maine resident, so may not have much in geographic appeal).

This is separate from Clinton and what she did or didn't do. It is a fact that Susan Rice knowingly lied that the attack on the consulate and the resulting deaths and injuries was a spontaneous event because of an internet video. A lie which resulted in an American citizen being jailed.

CNN is canceling the audience and the media at the next debate between Biden and Sanders.

DNC announces no audience at upcoming primary debate because of coronavirus outbreak

With the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the nation, Democrats announced Tuesday that the CNN-Univision Democratic presidential debate set for this weekend will be held without an audience. The Democratic National Committee's decision to forgo an audience came at the request of the campaigns of Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, as health officials urged people to avoid large gatherings and major events continued to be canceled for the foreseeable future.

    .....

CNN officials agreed with the decision and noted that there would also be no press filing center or spin room at the debate.

Media Matters is a garbage site. It is so far left that it's useless.

    ........
    https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/benghazi-emails-white-house-prepped-susan-rice/

Newly obtained emails on Benghazi show then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice was coached by a key White House aide to lie and ignore the facts known and reported on the ground to make the administration look good.
The fish rots from the head, as the saying goes, and no further proof is needed than a Sept. 14, 2012, email from Ben Rhodes, an assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, contained in more than 100 pages of documents released by Judicial Watch and obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request.

That email, with the subject line: "RE: PREP Call with Susan: Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET," was sent to other key White House staffers such as then-Communications Director David Plouffe and Press Secretary Jay Carney the day before now-National Security Adviser Susan Rice made her whirlwind tour on five Sunday news show appearances to specifically and emphatically blame an Internet video for the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, in which U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other nationals were killed.

One of the goals listed in the emails was the need for Rice "to underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy." She was also to "reinforce the President and Administration's strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges." Her job was not to tell the truth, but to put lipstick on the Obama administration's Benghazi pig.

The documents include a Sept. 12, 2012, email from Payton Knopf, a former deputy spokesman at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, in which Knopf informs Rice that senior officials had already dubbed the Benghazi attack "complex" and planned in advance. Yet Rice would still insist on her TV tour that the Benghazi terrorist attacks were "spontaneous."

In early April, former deputy CIA director Michael Morell, who was heavily involved in editing the now infamous talking points, told lawmakers it was Rice, on the Sunday shows, who linked the video to the Benghazi attack and that the video was not part of the CIA analysis.

The Rhodes email was not part of the 100 pages of emails released by the administration last May, and we can see why. As we noted at the time, that email package showed a successive pattern of edits with White House involvement designed to remove any hint of terrorist involvement to fit the administration's campaign narrative that the war on terror was over and won.

Those emails show that Rhodes and National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor were alerted that the intelligence community was drafting talking points that as late as 3:04 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, still included references to extremists tied to al-Qaida and an "attack."

The terms "al-Qaida" and "attack" were stripped out by 4:42 p.m., and shortly afterward Vietor thanked colleagues for revisions and said they would be vetted "here," as in the White House. He then forwarded "edits" from John Brennan, the current CIA chief who then was a White House counterterrorism adviser.

In a White House meeting on Saturday morning, Sept. 15, the CIA, at the direction of the State Department and White House, drafted the final version of the talking points from which all references to al-Qaida and security warnings in Benghazi before the attack were deleted.

The question of how the video story was concocted out of whole cloth, by whom and why, and why it was trumpeted by Rice, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama himself with such fervor at the United Nations has remained unanswered until now.

"Now we know that the Obama White House's chief concern about the Benghazi attack was making sure that President Obama looked good," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement.

That the White House's main concern in the wake of an attack in which four Americans were murdered was Obama's image is downright despicable.

    Bernie bro attacked by MSNBC.

    He's planning on pressing charges.

The hilarious part is one lady defending the lady journalist. How dare a man ask her tough questions to a woman! He's harassing her and intimidating her! Didn't he see her tough her neck in fear?!

The guy was a bit of a jerk towards the end but what happened wasn't justified. Asking tough questions even while being a jerk is not illegal. Nor is it illegal to film like she started to say it was. Apparently this guy has a podcast.

It's less sneering and more disappointment. I hear so often "wait just a little longer," and it doesn't come. It never comes as promised or even remotely in any timely manner (Martin talks about that, too). MLK was right that the universe tends to bend toward justice, but even since his day our political machine has grown vastly more corrupt and complicated, so that even if the universe bends toward justice, American political parties do not. Look at the GOP. Not only are they bending away from justice, they're embracing that new direction. The Democrats, in their zeal to grab moderate Republican voters, for some reason, also runs to the right. As a result, the country bends away from justice and towards legalism, where the infrastructure that keeps black people, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and the poor, from making significant changes that would better their lives, that much more entrenched.

During that time of "patience," more people will die from easily treatable diseases, they'll die from hunger, they'll die from police violence, they'll die from exhaustion and stress related medical issues. Radicals are people who want to get back to the root of issues and fix them. What Bernie proposes isn't remotely radical in almost any other developed nation, but here in the U.S., where you're encouraged to sell blood or plasma to help pay your student loan payments, the idea might as well be the heart of communism. People wanting these changes aren't radical, they're very much sane and aware of what is happening to themselves and the people they love, and they've correctly identified the culprits. Making those changes are hard enough, but in a system that actively demoralizes people, that encourages them not to rock the boat, not to change things outside of the tiny window that is allowed (for example, Republican and Democrat occupy a microscopic space on the political scale, but in the U.S. you'd think they encompass the entire gamut from left to right). Think different, but not too different. Be yourself, but not to where you're non-conforming.

As for Bernie continuing, why wouldn't he? There are still 1,000 delegates in play, and the two candidates are only about 140 delegates apart. There are states still counting and assigning their delegate votes from previous races. I wouldn't expect him to give up until the actual nomination. He shouldn't give up until then, because he believes in what he says, and isn't just making political hay for the benefit of his corporate donors and the itching ears of people who just want things "normal."

Our only hope out of this mess is if he nominates a great VP and drops dead after the convention. - Zor Prime

it would behoove the party (I assume they have a big hand in that) to choose a great VP. I don't wish poor health or death on anybody, but if Biden wins the election and his mental capabilities reach the tipping point, a great VP could be a huge asset not just for the Dems but for the nation.

That said I don't see Biden winning. His handlers can't run interference for him forever. There's a lot of time before November. My prediction is the corona virus will get worse before it gets better, but when it does pass and the economy rebounds in a huge way, Trump will be a double-dipping hero/savior and you fucking know he'll milk that for all it's worth.
Granted timing is the wildcard here more than anything. Regardless I see a Trump victory, but whether it's a close race or a landslide is a coin flip. Eight months? Damn that is a lonnnnnnng time in a fast paced hectic world.

Yeah, imo Trump will be running against Sen Harris. She got a lot of same endorsements as Clinton, & most resembled Hillary 2.0 during the race, and this is very much turning out to be an Establishment TicketTM. Biden's cabinet 'picks' already eerily resemble Obama's cabinet, although I suppose he could argue that a Treasury head from JP Morgan is nothing like one from Goldman.

Though I guess there's also a small chance Biden picks Klobu for his chief pallbearer surrogate Nominee.

I'm not seeing any merits of Rice or Abrams, except that they both check the right identity boxes, which of course means they are very high on the bigot-world-view (i.e. Democratic party) list.
