This is so very dumb. First, you are just making numbers up. Secondly, car crash deaths take place over an entire year, not a couple months. Next, car crash deaths include many at the scene or shortly thereafter so aren't such a strain on the healthcare system. Next, car crash deaths are already factored in to our existing healthcare needs/economy. This is in addition. Let me put it this way. Say you have a $2k a month mortgage payment. Then say I hit you with a surprise $24,ooo bill you have to pay in 3 months. When you balk at that I say 'What? You already pay $24k a year on your mortgage, what's the big deal?' You would probably call me an idiot. Lastly, yes, we need to severely reduce our car crash deaths.
My personal feelings are irrelevant. My assessment of the electorate's overall mood leads me to conclude that the American people have had enough of Trump's erratic style and obsession with petty personal grievances and will send him packing in November.
It's clear from his posting history that he takes most things literally. Meanwhile, if Biden walks away with this, history will show that the responsible candidate, who told voters to stay home yesterday, lost out to the guy who said "Oh, nothing to worry about - get out there and vote for me!"
I sincerely hope the DNC, and Tom Perez, is sued for criminal negligence. There will be no way to know just how many people will suffer or die from the overt disregard for people's lives by the party that supposedly gives a damn about them. Of course, the narrative will be that since Bernie didn't drop out (despite having no legitimate reason to drop out up to that point), he's the one who really caused all of this. Even now, they're roughly 280 delegates apart, with Biden still more than 700 delegates away from having the 1,991 needed. If this were Hillary in second, or Elizabeth Warren in second, do you think there would be calls from those camps to drop out? Not a fucking chance in hell. Warren stayed in even when she only had 72 delegates and had been vastly outpaced by Sanders and Biden. She still held on, and when she finally dropped out she didn't endorse anyone, but are her supporters telling her it's all about her ego? No, they're celebrating her tenacity and courage, and talking about voting for her in the primary anyway, regardless of who it seems will get the nod. Tom Perez and the DNC made a gamble yesterday, and the currency was the lives of millions of elderly voters, along with millions of people who were immunocompromised (like myself), and for what reason? Mike DeWine had more reason and compassion when he ordered polls closed, and the primary extended to June for Ohio. Right now, Trump's running rings around the Democratic party by adopting ideas that make them look conservative as the GOP positions itself to "rescue" people from the effects of the Coronavirus. Meanwhile, we have Joe "I have no empathy for millennials" Biden being touted as the most electable Democrat the DNC could piece together. It's a shit show. Plain and simple.
The DNC didn’t kill Bernie’s chance to be the nominee, Bernie’s inability to get enough folks to vote for him did. His campaign’s been the walking dead since Super Tuesday. Big Tuesday nailed the coffin shut. Yesterday covered it with dirt. There simply aren’t enough states left where he has a shot winning to overtake Biden. If his ego won’t let him drop out, that’s fine. He is the candidate, he has the right to make that decision. But others have the right to comment on it.
It took the entire DNC to come together and push against him, and he is still only 280 delegates behind Biden. If Bernie drops out, or loses the nomination, at least I know it took a corrupt Democratic party putting everything it had on the line, including the lives of its own elderly voters, to keep Bernie from that nomination. Meanwhile: Source: https://theintercept.com/2020/03/18/illinois-polling-locations-low-income-seniors/ The DNC won a Pyrrhic victory.
It was over for Bernie long before last night. His campaign’s been the walking dead since Super Tuesday. Big Tuesday nailed the coffin shut. Last night just covered it with dirt.
What? Nothing about the negligence towards elderly people who may spread the virus? Who may die from the virus? Who put other men, women, and children at risk of infection over this stunt pulled by the DNC? Nothing at all? Just a repeat of what you already posted? Who else is the Democratic party willing to let die so their supporters can hold on to the illusion of normalcy? I mean, aside from poor, brown kids.
You're the one that likes to say "words have meaning." If you weren't being literal, say so. We're not mind readers.
Neither Corona virus nor the DNC has anything to do with Bernie's failure to win Florida, Arizona or the many other states that he has had difficulty in.You are correct that he has every right to stay in the race until Biden has secured the nomination. But don't point fingers at everyone else for Bernie's failures. That's strictly on Bernie.
Whatever makes you feel comfortable. It's not like you're worried. Trump will beat the shit out of Biden.
smart money says neither of us will catch the virus anyway. Statistically speaking if we do, we'll survive. Odds are If I get it I'll barely have any symptoms. Thus my level of concern for my own health is minimal. I've been in way worse life-threatening shit, as have most people. I'm just keeping this in perspective. This is just one thing out of hundreds that can make you sick or kill you so I'm not going to get all wrapped around the axle over it. Normally level headed folks are going full retard right before my very eyes - they need to get a grip IMHO.
So it's Daytonish to not be scared or worried? It's Daytonish to not consider this threat as greater than any other very real threats we all face? Sorry I'm not part of your sheeple herd fella!
so you've never seen any suffering until coronapocalypse? Color me skeptical! Have you been living under a rock or what?
Asyncritus already responded to this better than I would have, but what's your source on the 3 million figure? Also you seem to fundamentally misunderstand people's concerns. Most of us here aren't scared of dying from this virus ourselves. Instead we are concerned for the people it will kill, and the massive disruption it is going to cause to our societies.
Here's a good video about how, during an epidemic, everything appears fine...until it doesn't. Pay particular attention to the lilly pad metaphor.
Both for me. I take care of people who are immunocompromised, and I myself am at serious risk. Anyone who advocates ignoring it, or believing it to be not that big of a deal is a fool, and one who will get a lot of people killed.
Strange, I also hear it's better to just keep going as normal and then adapt to the disruption rather than try to lessen it.
No it’s Daytonish to make up a bunch of shit and then claim to have “won” a particular debate. I would say that I am not afraid, ( very concerned, yes) but since, according to you, I’m a libruhl, you wouldn’t believe me.
The "massive disruption" is at the local level. These fucking hoarders are pissing me off! The "limits" are a joke. Only two meats? Sure...per trip to the store! Hoarders make several trips to several stores and sooner versus later it's all gone.
Maybe you aren't afraid, who knows? You're a grown-ass man so I hope you aren't afraid. I'm just saying let's keep things in perspective. Thousands of people die every day from a variety of causes. Panic is contagious and magnifies the initial problem and spawns more problems.
