It's not remote, but it's quick. Some at TBBS did the math and that still puts it in the "20-30x faster than maximum warp" region (adjusting for the fact we dunno what max warp is in 2399, but we know the Romulans are gonna take 2 days to get there, and Nepenthe can't have been that far from the Artifact if Rios was able to get La Sirena there in what was likely a day or so for Picard's little sojourn with the Riker-Trois).

I expect we will see the current Enterprise at some point on this show (Enterprise F?).

Any speculation on who would be the captain? Brand new character or some legacy character?

I liked the most recent episode although the blatant retcon of Soong having a biological son bothers me.

If you watch the episode ‘Brothers’ from TNG it is pretty clear that Soong considered Lore and Data his sons and did not have any biological children.

If this new Soong turns out to be Lore that would be pretty neat but I’m sure Lore was disassembled and probably atomized.

    That he knew of.
Could have been a fling with a college crush who didn't tell him about the kid, then the kid found out who his dad was, and took up his line of work.
    Like Adonis Creed.
    Easy-peasy.

But he did know him because there's a line about how his father always reminded him how inferior he was or something like that. That's what makes me think it is Lore.

There's no such line. All he says is "my father had me, but he made Data". Which implies it, but doesn't say it was repeated put-downs.

"In fact he never let me forget." That implies resentfulness.

you went from a specific cause of resentment to simply claiming resentment(not "resentfulness"-is that even a word?)

I don’t know if the writers are this smart but other evidence this could be Lore...

Altan Inigo Soong = A.I. Soong?

Lore was Data’s evil twin who wanted to eradicate human life.

Sutra is apparently Soji’s evil twin who also wants to eradicate human life.

‘lore’ is a body of knowledge which is traditional or anecdotal.

‘sutra’ is from Sanskrit and refers to a type of traditional literature. Soong seems to favor her and speaks highly of her.

Maybe Bruce Maddox could not obtain any positrons from Data and had to use Lore instead? He could have intentionally or unintentionally reactivated him.

There is something a bit sinister about the way Spiner is playing this Soong, especially in the way he addresses Picard and puts him down in front of the other Synths. Also in the way he seems to be manipulating Jurati.

I guess we will see. I may be giving the writers more credit than they deserve...

Also, as an aside, Lal’s name also had a Sanskrit origin.

    Ahah!! I have the answer!
I'm marathon-ing my "fan collective", sets, and I'm in the middle of "Shattered", and Scorpion-Seven says transwarp conduits have high chronometric stress, so Borg cubes use a chroniton field to keep the segments of the ship in temporal sync.

So, it's to prevent the shattered anomaly from happening every time.

    Stock footage shocker.

I'm sure you're gonna complain about all the times TOS used shots of Titan rockets next.

There wasn't anything stolen, and it does not indicate a lack of original thought. The clips used are stock footage, and Shutterstock has options to purchase the right to use clips for Television Distribution, Movie Theater Distribution, and Over the Top (OTT) Video Distribution. It was most likely more cost effective and time saving to purchase the stock video than to create the clips for the mid meld scene.

Ironically, the person who created the YouTube clip is probably in violation of copyright by using the video without paying the royalty fees for using it.

Keep making excuses for laziness. I guess that big budget they're so proud of goes to all of those producers and Stewart. You guys will excuse anytthing because of the memberberies and rose colored glasses you're wearing. That and because it has the name Star Trek slapped on it so you forgive it.

I'm not making excuses, plenty of shows and movies us stock footage. The images conveyed what was being explained. Picard has several flaws, and has room for improvement. But I still enjoy the show, yet for some reason you want to bash everything about the show and bash anyone else's opinion and thoughts on the show. You're overly obsessed with with criticizing and attacking anyone who posts anything positive about it.
