I couldn't be more in disagreement with this. This is a despicable outlook, totally unworthy of the ideals that were supposed to characterize the USA. You might as well say that no one is responsible when a crime is committed, because crimes happen all the time, so why try to stop it?
We can do this all day, how's The DRC holding up? Free market there. What about Somalia? Arguably the freest market in modern history. How many of those mass murders occurred in the name of profit to supply the US and European markets? Are we forgetting that China isn't actually communist anymore? I call bullshit on the idea we can label a system as good or bad inherently, or even give a reliable cost benefit analysis for a nation in the wider scheme of things. What we can do reliably is point to the well documented fact that people have a tendency to be insular, tribal and jingoistic and see their own as superior to others. The US is no exception and it's citizens gloss over the damage done around the world by US adventuring, free market capitalism, regime changes. They sell themselves the idea that they were the saviours in WW2, that we in Europe would all be speaking German without US intervention (historically not even close to being true) and are shocked when anyone points out that Russia and China were both far more instrumental in WW2, sacrificed more and suffered than they were or did.
We are all replaceable, absolutely. However I'd suggest that on a broad scale pilots are desirable but unnecessary. The same cannot be said about traders. Absolutely, I'm just drawing attention to the oft overlooked fact that higher paid roles often only exist because of others who lay the societal groundwork. Pilots are a luxury we managed without for thousands of years and whilst they do improve our quality of life we are talking here about the implications of a potentially drastic change in the global economy. That may well mean vastly reduced air travel and freight.
I don't ignore climate change as a phenomena- my claim is that it is naturally driven, primarily by the sun, and not overly influenced by the doings of humans. Again, for the hard of hearing, at various epochs the Earth has been far warmer and far colder than it is right now. Just because I don't subscribe to your little bed-wetting club doesn't mean I'm wrong.
This is delusional. As soon as this virus blows over, people are gradually going to return to packing themselves like sardines into the back of airplanes, hotels, restaurants, and resorts. You can see all over social media that people are chomping at the fucking bit to get back out and be social animals again.
No, but the science of it . . . the actual science, not the Rush Limbaugh talking points . . . does in fact mean you're wrong.
Is that something you've done actual experiments on, or did you just sit in a room, and have an idea randomly float into your head? Was it in the same "bright ideas", folder as "feed mayonnaise directly to the tuna fish! ", and "bleach and ammonia together in one bottle! "? It was, wasn't it? You need to stop listening to your own head. It's not good.
Ok, let's give your theory a chance here. Can you point to a period anywhere in the last billion years where the Earth's temperature changed as fast as it is currently doing? Maybe one tenth of the rate? One hundredth? A thousandth?
Science and data can be used to prove anything, just go outside and look at the sun and feel how warm it is, checkmate lieberal.
That's a lie. That's blatant libel. He's going to be able to sue you now for everything you're worth. (Though the $22.37 won't actually make that much of a difference to a professional pilot...) What in the world is wrong with you? Are you trying to destroy his reputation completely? Why would you ever think he has to wait until the sun rises to start drinking?
After this dumb plague bullshit starts to settle down, the whole world will realize that if everyone adopts my worldview, we'll be a lot better off. So, everyone will start thinking the way I do and humanity will enter a new era of prosperity. I probably won't get the recognition I deserve for fixing everything, but I'm fine with that, egotism is for those who haven't single-handedly saved humanity. #TrueStory
One medium way I could see this changing things is accelerating the growing schism in America. There is a possibility that some/many Dem states move to more mail in voting. Mail in means higher turnout which generally benefits progressives. So Dem states will get more progressive.
I really want to hope we'll see more progressivism, but I honestly fear we'll see the authoritarian slant we've been seeing dive even deeper. I honestly think it's a 50-50 chance there will even be a general election in November.
to answer the thread topic.....ABSOLUTE CHAOS! Let me preach on it: it's likely there won't be a single cut-and-dried "victory moment" since the U.S. is so spread out that the curve will be at different stages depending on your location. But let's say you live in Anytown U.S.A. When Anytown lifts the restrictions on restaurants, bars, sporting events, live entertainment, etc. people are going to go buck...fucking...wild! This is after all America - nobody dips a toe into the water, they jump in head-first off the high-dive! After having pretty much everything denied to them for so long they are going to behave like a caged lion that discovered their door ajar. DUI, drunk & disorderly, traffic jams/auto accidents, super long lines, etc etc. The cops are going to be busy that's for sure! Anyway here is an article about the alcohol/drug problems increasing as a reaction to coronapocalypse. Sadly many of these people will probably get even worse once the chains are off. https://www.wrdw.com/content/news/I...as-COVID-19-pandemic-continues-569514081.html
Nope. Your entire premise is wrong. Cancer kills over 20,000 people a day and we are no closer to having a vaccine for that than we did 50 years ago.We live with numerous viruses and sicknesses every day and the world keeps spinning. This is no different. IMO,COVID 19 will still exist but the big "scare" that has hurt the economy and way of life will be gone by the end of the year. We are already seeing numerous cases of people who have recovered and the numbers of people that are getting it are starting to taper off. The only drama remaining after kids go back to school and the businesses reopen will be who gets relief, how much will it be and which politicians use this crisis as a political football.
Yeah no. Cancer kills 1600 people a day, in the US. https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/1727839/
Nope. More to the point, there is no such thing as "cancer," but cancers. Each one is distinct. Each one needs to be identified and separated from other cancers. And each one needs to be treated differently - not by a "vaccine," you innocent, but by biochemistry, that is, via telomeres. And, finally, cancer is not contagious, no matter what your grandmother told you. Try to at least pretend you know what you're talking about. Thank you.
Everyone knows there's more than one type of cancer, you don't have to be a condescending cunt about it.
@T.R's post would suggest otherwise. Also, I'm not sure you understand that the site of a given cancer is not the same as the causes and effective treatments of cancers. Why don't you share your vast expertise on how treatments for - to keep it simple - BRCA 1 v BRCA 2 v DCIS differ? We don't even have to get into MBC v IDC v non-breast cancers.
Both of my parents died of cancer. My mom fought it on and off for twenty years, I'm well aware. Shove your condescending bullshit up your ass.
