Now where will I buy my Craftsman tool? The end is near for Sears.

"they" say that small business is the backbone of the American economy but only in iconic, epically large corporations do they reward CEO's for failure. It's kind of like "fuck up & move up" in the military. Once you are past 20 years in all they can do is give you a job with less responsibility where you can't (in theory) cause any more damage.

It seems to me (not a business expert) that there is no downside in the US to bringing a corporation to it's knees. In Japan they have people doing their Rocky The Flying Squirrel imitations from their offices over not meeting quarterly production goals. :bergman:

    God, finally.

Prostate cancer kills people faster than it's taken Sears to die off.

At this rate ,I'm beginning to think Sears is going to outlive the Queen, Betty White and the cockroaches that survive the nukes we'll toss out during WWIII :jayzus:

I can't imagine Sears means that much to Eddie Lampert as to pour his own money into it from his hedge fund. Is the joke on us? Is he trying to win a bet with his golf buddies?

I hope to live long enough to see the movie Hollywood will eventually do on thos where they'll cast Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus' as yet to be conceived spawn in the lead, continuing a third generation of talentless hacks. :borg:

I was legit unaware they even had furniture or appliances. I usually think of Sears for that.

    Press F for respects :(

I grew up on those shoes and they were a good place to get a decent pair of summer sandals. Now, where will I go? :(

The 50% off sales they are having right now are great for kids shoes. Get it while it lasts. We got some dress shoes for the boy for Easter, a new pair of tennis shoes, a pair of beach sandals, and a pair of high top basketball shoes all between $10-$15 each. They also still add on an extra 10% off for military vets.

There are three left Amin this county down from six in the 1990’s. One is a “Sears Outlet” which is the garbage of the garbage and not worth going to. The other two include a location at North County faire which was built in the 1980’s as the largest mall in the county, it is an old fashioned indoor mall, and much of it seemed vacant the last time I was there. I suspect before too long it will go the way of Horton Plaza (a downtown mall built in 1983-ish which at the time was seen internationally as a model for urban renewal but now is being knocked down/rebuilt as housing and office space). The last location is in Chula Vista, a low rent older area by the border, and survives mostly on cross border shopping as well as low income Latino residents mostly illegal aliens or their descendants.

The Chula Vista one is on the newest closure list BTW. I may swing by there on my next day off since I need some new pants anyway.

Also, indoor malls exist in San Diego? I have never been to one in the last seven years I've been here and I distinctly remember all my Navy sailors being entirely tripped out by this cuz I guess this isn't a thing in other parts of the country

I went to the Sears at Town Center Kennesaw last week just out of curiosity. It's open, but it's zombieland. Most of the mall seemed kinda seedy but that's probably because it's the white trash mall. The selection of tools made me a bit nostalgic.

yeah, I don't do malls (normally). Online or Costco. If those two don't have it I don't need it.

And still, nearly a full five years since this thread was created, Sears continues to sit up top like a particularly oily turd that refuses to be flushed :zod:
