I've had more issues out of FedEx and Amazon couriers than I've had with the USPS.

Their Social Media page doesn't have much activity on it, they have to advertise somehow.

The elderly have started to come out of their homes more and more. With social distancing they feel they can stand in front of the cash register forever after they are finished. They really need some sort of old people windsheild wiper thing at the end of the aisle to brush them out of the way or else they will stand there forever trying to remember their name.

Now they are also driving around again. I do miss the elderly free roads. Now the 10 MPH floriduh barricade is back on every single road. That is combined with the texting drivers coming back on the road.

what is it about old men who cannot seem to hook their mask around both ears? It does not do anything if it is just dangling off of one ear. I don't give a fuck if you are not wearing it, but don't hang it around one ear like you are some sort of 80's punk rocker with a safety pin. WTF is wrong with old people.

Oh, and get out of the middle of the road. There are more people driving again, and our newer plastic cars get dented when we push you out of the way.

Oh, and I do not give a fuck about the bars and other places, but this is florida. we are two feet off the surface of the sun. You have to open the pools. Fuck the beach. Open the pools.

valid points! Another grocery store idea: have a special section of the store for old people where there aren't so many different brands/varieties/quantity sizes of food.
The decision making process of choosing between ten different brands of French fries in crinkle cut/shoestring/waffle style/seasoned/etc. in small/medium/jumbo sized bags ties them up for hours.

The French postal system is still working fairly well. Home deliveries are reduced to only three days a week, but times for sending something are only slightly up. Not even doubled.

Going to the post office itself requires a fair amount of patience, though. You stand in line outside (spaced apart from each other, and just about everyone wearing masks) because they only allow a handful of people inside at a time. Then you go out the back way because the flow of people in the building is one-way now. But it works.

UK post is still going strong. Admittedly, Amazon seem to be using couriers for stuff that would normally be Royal Mail - had a DPD delivery yesterday of stuff that easily fit through the letterbox (trigonometry set for my online degree maths module).

Had to snailmail a couple of important documents recently. There aren't any dropoff boxes for at least a mile because the post office is closer - which would not have been a problem if USPS hadn't sealed the boxes outside the building. :bang:

So you've got to go inside (during business hours, of course), wend your way through the yobs who still don't understand six feet distance - even though it's marked on the floor - and deposit your mail in the box in the lobby. If God forbid you actually have to go to a window (six windows; two open at any given time) to mail something that's too big to fit in the lobby box, you have to stand on the six-feet markers out in the sun (I'm actually more at risk for skin cancer than COVID-19) while the usual self-important maskless runners huff past you practically rubbing elbows.

Holy shit, this conversation went from 0-way too fucking old. What is it with tracking the fucking mailman? If you ever want to know the working habits of the mailman you just need to ask an old person. I could not even tell you if the mailman ever comes or just drives around in the silly little truck thing, but old people can tell what day it is by what time he comes. which has really caused some confusion and large amounts of wandering aimlessly in elderly communities because the mail has been messed up. It is like the walking elderly are forming herds looking for the mailman.

Oh, and what does the post office sell that is a requirement for every person over 70 to have to buy on a daily basis? I don't even risk that place down here in god's waiting room. The fucking CVS counter on SS check day is less of a god damned hassel. WTF is with returning shit you bought at CVS? It is the same old people every time returning the stuff they bought yesterday. It is never from CVS either. We know you did not buy it from CVS because you stormed off and left everything on the counter yesterday because you could not read your fucking coupon. Now you are going to try and return things you bought from wherever that CVS has never sold. where the fuck did your old ass get a chainsaw, and why would yiou ever think CVS stocks them? Go back to the post office because I think the mail people are doing something without your knowledge.

One side effect I've noticed. Due to a newly acquired OCD with keeping groceries Corona free, by obsessively cleaning and disinfecting everything. For example, anything in a waterproof/watertight container or packaging like beer/sodas/drink in cans, food in plastic sealed packaging veggies/some meats/cereal/crackers (taken out of the boxes), bottles items juice/condiments/liquor or fresh veggies and fruit all get washed in the sink with soap and water then rinsed off. Items like bread get sprayed with sanitizer. All of this after letting items sit in the basement for a few days unless it's a perishable item.

I haven't had anything like bread or cheese get moldy in the last couple of months. Not that I'm slob, but some items like bread would get moldy here and there. And sometimes I'll open a package of cheese, then forget about it and find that it's started to get mold on it. So yeah, mold spores get everywhere without knowing it, in the store, putting the groceries n the car, bringing them in, or anywhere in between.

Something else, if I'm going to wash off a few dozen cans of beer, sodas, carbonated water, I found it easier to shut off the hot water line, place everything in the dishwasher, run a short cycle, then let them cans dry without the heat. Then turn the hot water back on.

Ed. I'm worried about you. We might have to have an intervention led by OF.

You seriously put your beer in the dishwasher?

Oh, and they only have a hot water connection unless you connect to the faucet (portable dw).

Cheese and yogurt are spoiled milk.

It does run with cold water, it's not a portable. Maybe I need to check the connection, but I did install it after the other one stopped working.

I have once or twice, but that was with 2 cases off beer, and a few cases of carbonated water and sodas.

Okay, checked it. It's connected to the cold water, the dishwasher heats the water. So it's been using heated water. So turning off the hot water did nothing. Since I let them dry for a few hours never realized that.

Stop obsessing. Your beer is fine without a wash.

Fresh veggies should be run through the dishwasher.

So i had a covid test. Tested negative

Had a really sore throat and my doc recommended that just to be on the safe side i go get screened

Apart from 10 seconds of getting my nose deeply penetrated by a giant q tip it was a pretty painless experience. Was in and out of there in 20 minutes and got my result back 24 hours later

Oh, and as you're passing around the bottle of MD20/20, it's impolite to wipe it off before taking a slug.

If you are drinking MD20/20 you are probably either already dead or nothing short of a nuclear fire will kill you. My guess would be the other killer bacteria and viruses within you will kill COVID before it infects you.

Making sure your beer is clean is like making sure your cigarettes are clean. It is like a junkie worrying that his dealer is wearing a mask.

    Glad you're okay.

That's pretty good, timing-wise! I got tested at the beginning of this shit show and it took them 16 days to get my results. Ontario was really dropping the ball back then (and still is, to a degree).

I also tested negative, but my family practitioner said they were running anywhere as high as 30% on the false positives and negatives. She was pretty sure I had it.

I'm hoping the antibody testing gets rolled out soon.

That wasn't the only orifice you had deeply penetrated that day.

A prolapsed anus will do that for you.

Apparently, one of the things that all the professional chefs know, but never bother to tell us civilians is that when you get fruit like berries home from the store, the first thing that you should do is plunge them into warm to hot water for a few seconds. This kills the mold and bacteria on the berries and allows them to last longer.

IPAs are for amateurs...usually a blueberry in there and too high of an alcohol content. Seriously, they're okay but it gets old quickly. Lagers and standard ales are where it's at, imo.
