The disconnect between reality of the white, reactionary class is nothing new. They've been denying the reality that their viewpoints are not the views of the overwhelming majority at least since Nixon coined the phrase "silent majority." Denying the reality of changing demographics and the fact that things like Jim Crow and unquestioning support of American military adventurism and the fear that communists were hiding under the bed were gradually losing their group on American society. Of course, one of the things that has helped cement those reactionary view is the rise of the right-wing echo chamber, but that's another story...

That much is nothing new -- there was plenty of "nobody I know is voting for Obama, so how could he possibly win?" in 2012. We got our share of it here.

In case anyone's curious, 306-232 was the 60th-most likely outcome according to 538, with a 0.49% chance.

Makes sense, she seems to be more conspirational than Rudy with the accusations...
Though someone in the White House might have seen Tuckers and Lou Dobbs reactions to what she said and realised letting Sidney talk will lose them support...

They legally counted illegal ballots? What a country! Just kidding, it's the Republicans fault for not having a higher turnout, more specifically a higher turnout choosing Trump. Crunching the numbers it's obvious that any "voting irregularities" could have been countered by more people voting for him! That's the bottom line. Plenty of Republicans voted enthusiastically down-ballot because there was no down-ballot blue wave.

This makes me very optimistic about the runoff! Guarantee there are millions of pissed-off Republicans who will vote in-person because they won't get fooled again.
Rigged or not mail-in and absentee voting has serious chain-of-custody problems and voter residency verification and other issues. This time it wasn't enough to change the election outcome. Next time it might be! But the Georgia runoff will be under the microscope (or should be) at every level. Thus if the Republicans lose senate control they have nobody to blame but themselves. Losing the presidential race should be a wakeup call and now their mettle and dedication will be tested but it's quite basic - get our asses to the polls and VOTE!

So are Trumps public statements insisting it was due to fraud a sign of gross incompetence or dishonesty?

LOL Rudy's fever-addled noggin tweeted in celebration because a judge ruled that votes needed to be held for scrutiny.

Problem is those votes are nothing to do with the election and refer to a proposal about legalising weed. Trump won that county, so I doubt they WANT a recount even if there's evidence of fraud.

The Texas AG filing the suit is as on Republican brand as can be:

The suit comes as Paxton faces an FBI criminal investigation related to alleged efforts to help a wealthy campaign donor. The investigation was confirmed by the Associated Press after seven senior lawyers in Paxton’s office claimed to authorities in September that Paxton was guilty of abusing his office.

All seven have since been fired, put on leave or resigned, spurring a whistleblower lawsuit from several of them. Paxton has denied wrongdoing.

The delusional have pinned all their hopes on SCOTUS overturning the election. Seems all some people remember about Bush v Gore is "sometimes the courts decide who gets to be president." :unuts:

    HAPPY "SAFE HARBOR DAY"!

Under federal law, today is the day (six days before the Electoral College meets) that Congress must treat certified state election results as conclusive.

That means Trump is shit out of luck as of midnight.

Doesn't mean he and his crack team of lawyers still won't try to put up a fight, but their avenues for appeal will be effectively closed. Pretty much at that stage the Trump campaign's only remaining option would be the Supreme Court, and that's not a realistic option (even with a Republican-packed bench) because the states will have certified the votes.

A lot of people still haven’t figured out everything operating in Trump’s orbit is part of a cult. This lawsuit is so frivolous and so lacking standing that it could only be filed by a cult member. Again, there just aren’t any Democrats who would act in this manner.

In fairness, instead of/in addition to being a true believer/cult member, there are a couple of other reasons someone might want to file a lawsuit like this that seems facially meritless to the point where in a fair world the attorneys involved would receive some discipline.
    1. A cynical grab for attention/money from cult members.
    2. Seeking the love and support of cult leaders.
    3. Seeking a presidential pardon for the criminal case. From the link, it looks like though this is a security case it is being tried at the state level. Which strikes me as weird, but anywho. The president can only pardon federal offenses, not state ones. Which I guess leads to a couple subpossibilities: a) For some reason, the attorney general of a major state doesn't know or realize that b) the attorney general might hope that the Texas governor would follow suit with a pardon for state crimes if Trump issues a pardon for federal ones. c) The attorney general might hope that the feds would bigfoot the case against him somehow and then pardon him.

I used to hold Sydney Powell in high esteem, it's a shame she's turned into a Trump shill.
