I read a while ago that Kovich is coming back next season. Besides, how long did it take to get more information about Garak?
-Owo and Detmer need to kiss already. -Why did Orissa suddenly decide to fight Michael herself? She knew how to delegate perfectly well before that moment. -I'm sure every place that needs dilithium is gonna have some other crisis for Michael to solve as well, but making her the acting captain makes more sense considering Vance plans for Discovery to focus on making deliveries. -Shit, was that a low-key Futurama reference? Travel nearly a millennium into the future, end up a delivery boy girl, make friends with a robot? -It was pointed out elsewhere that the Starfleet command uniforms most closely resemble Bajoran militia uniforms.
So happy Bryce and Rice got a line. Oh and Bryce got a line other than, “no response.” So much character development over the course of three years.
I'm rapidly becoming of the opinion that everyone is pansexual in the future. But yeah, how else would Kayla know how long Joann can hold her breath during a dive?
I finally got around to the finale tonight. It was okay. I agree with everyone who's saying that it's the worst season of the three. Started decently, then wasn't, and redeemed itself somewhat at the end. C is a pretty generous grade. And the turbolift thing is just plain stupid because, among other things, it implies that the ship is far bigger than it really is.
Power consumption. Transporters have to use a lot of energy, and during a crisis, you can't have people beaming themselves all over the ship.
But they have personal transporters. and earlier in the season they were able to do multiple transports without needing a ship. And I'm guessing Linus really fucked up a transport since we haven't seen him in a while. He probably did beam himself into the bio-waste processing center and wound up as pair of boots or a cheeseburger.
Where do those personal transporters get their energy from? I can't find the source right now, but somebody broke down how much energy a transporter would need, and it was something along the lines of the output of the sun for an entire day or greater. Can't imagine that they'd be able to figure out how to contain that much on a simple badge. The most logical explanation is that they'd draw the energy from an external power source, even if they weren't relying on an external transporter platform.
I'm not a fan of the beige but I really like the rank insignia thing on the shoulder (I don't remember if it's just the captain or on all of them - I think the latter)
Could be. But think about the consequences of someone being able to store the same amount of energy that a medium-sized star can put on in a single day on their person. You hit them with a phaser and shit's gonna blow up real big.
Also, I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but the actor who played Osyraa's scientist guy really does need the space wheelchair. He played Klingons in the first two seasons, but ALS caught up to him.
A phaser can disintegrate a person, and early TNG had those suckers shrunken down to the size of a car alarm fob. Just saying. And if it's external power you're after, they had wireless power cracked way back at "The Cage" with the ground based phaser cannon.
Possible answers: 1. As a backup. Personal transporters are great and all, but they sometimes can fail or be shut off, as they were in these very episodes. Nothing wrong with having a belt-and-suspenders approach. 2. To accommodate people and things that do not have personal transporters or that are too large, complex, valuable etc. to be moved by them. 3. To accommodate the 32nd century equivalent of Bones: people who don't trust that newfangled technology. 4. They don't, but it is a vestige of the old design.
they did make sure to have them exchange a look that implied he's not quite ready to get over her willing to risk H&A... I figure it'll be a sticky point for a few episodes next season until she just about gets herself killed saving them/he accepts that leadership is hard calls like she did this time.
The showrunners and SMG discuss season 4 (and Stamets comes up). https://trekmovie.com/2021/01/12/st...ats-next-for-captain-burnham-and-season-four/
I like that she's finally taken the captain's chair. It just took a train wreck of a season to get her there.
