I'd like @tafkats to weigh in here. Generally he and I agree on most things. @Jenee's inability to comprehend that should not be put on him.
Me either. However when my wife & myself went out to eat for Valentine Day the restaurant happened to have The Daytona 500 on one of the TV's. There was a tremendous multi-car crash on the last lap, and a driver who got lucky and snaked his way through the fray won the race. Apparently this is not part of a typical race - who knew?
I wouldn't exactly call it that. @garamet made a quip about NASCAR disappearing, you made a point about the impact that would have on the area where you used to live and I still do, and I agreed with that point. Obviously you and I have a better sense of what kind of shock the economy of rural southern Michigan can and can't withstand than somebody who has never lived here, but I don't think there's much more to it than that ...
I agree. And I let it go after that. But, ... garamet had to continue with her stupidity. So, if she wants to show her ass, I'm just holding up her skirt for her.
Counterpoint: NASCAR promised Middle TN that if the counties and state chipped in to build a big race track (along with interstates, and interstate access), it'd be a huge moneymaker for the area. So, naturally, the various state and local municipalities all got together and did exactly what NASCAR wanted. NASCAR used the track for like two seasons, said that attendance numbers weren't what they needed for the race to be profitable, and abandoned the track. Mind you, they'll still use the hysterically small racetrack at the dilapidated state fairgrounds (seriously, the thing looks like a toilet bowl) for one race a year, but the big state-of-the-art track that cost hundreds of millions of dollars? Nope. Not interested in that at all.
And? We never should have had to pay for that piece-of-shit place to begin with. I seriously doubt that the money generated from it has replaced what the government spent to build it.
I totally agree. Tax payers should never have to pay for stadiums for professional sports when they rake in millions of dollars a year. MIS was built by a private citizen. Lambeau Field, on the other hand, was not only built by taxpayers, but it is own by citizens of Green Bay. If the taxpayers pay for a field, then a very large portion of the proceeds of any activity taking place at that stadium should be given back to the tax payers.
And the Packers are basically owned by the city. And mind you, the Nashville Super Speedway was built after Nashville got burned on building a football stadium for the Titans. (It was supposed to draw large concerts here, etc., but for the first ~10 years after it was built, no bands would perform concerts there because the contract for the stadium stipulated that all profits from food and beverage sales at concerts, etc., would go to the football team. If you can't get the concession stands folks to open for your concert, you're not gonna perform.)
better not show that to Nancy Pelosi - she'll put a wall around the Alamo to keep Trump out and send in 750,000 soldiers to enforce it.
She really terrifies you, doesn't she? Remind you of your mother-in-law, or the fifth-grade teacher who punished you for looking up girls' skirts??
I wouldn't say she's dumb, she's just conniving & scheming. Typical career politician in other words.
So, why the snarky comments about her, and not say, Lindsey Graham, or any of a number of other politicians with a long career life, who, unlike Nancy, are Republicans?
Pelosi Derangement Syndrome aside, the Speaker of the House has no Constitutional authority to order soldiers to deploy.
I like Lindsey! And yes there are conniving Republicans like Mitch McConnell. He is "in it to win it" and you never know what he's really thinking or planning. Nancy though is a very special kind of petty, vengeful, spiteful witch.
you don't agree? Jesus google it - if I give my reasons you'll sound like a motor boat - "but, but, but, but, but" or discredit my sources or my opinion.
Cause she's a Grrrl. And @oldfella1962 believes girls should be either in his bed or in the kitchen making him a sammich.
"Why is Nancy Pelosi a petty, vengeful, spiteful witch" is not a particularly helpful Google search. Anyway, it wouldn't answer the question of how you arrived at that conclusion.
I don't have time for this shit. Whatever, you win...Nancy Pelosi is a veritable gem of a lovely, endearing, sweet lady. Any evidence to the contrary must be conservative lies or "taking things out of context" or doctored videos. Her political peers will all back me up on this - she is held in very high esteem by all of Washington DC and indeed the entire nation if not the world.
