Out of curiosity, does Xenforo allow for more options beside M, F and Unspecified?

Since we've got a number of trans folks and people are embracing non-binary labels, I figure it may be time to update that, assuming it won't break the board to do so.

Good question. Could it be made a blank text field so people can write in whatever they want?

Don't get too happy. You know what kind of smart-ass shit would wind up in that field. But it would also make users like Tererun happy, so it's probably the best option (if possible at all).

True enough. I remember how those short-lived tags turned out. ;)

Yep. I mean, fuck the trolls, I feel like the worst of them have already seen themselves out or gotten banned as it is. It's time to start welcoming more diversity into the fold with action, so if it makes ppl happy...

I can look into it maybe on Tuesday. Btw the latest issues are probably the disk running out of space. Usually happens when a backup fails. Idk if I have time to actually check on that before Tuesday either, but I’ll try.

We should probably switch to just posting tweets, then. That’ll save disc space.

No idea about the responsiveness issues. Disk is holding steady at 85% full, no corrupt tables.

The database is only equipped to handle 'male', 'female', or ''. If we ever wanted to upgrade the board software (which we probably should at some point for security reasons alone), changing that now would possibly break the upgrade process, especially if newer versions have other options for that column. The signup form template is possible to edit. I imagine the user profile template is as well.

Sounds like the database and/or software needs a transition.

I'm honestly baffled why custom fields wouldn't be doable. It's not like we're running a 1998 Geocities webring.

(Fun fact: my phone wanted to autocorrect "webring" to "sebring," both of which have been lost to antiquity)

I would like a "preferred pronouns" blank field so I can fill it with "his grace."

I have a friend who builds NAS servers with the throw away HD from where he works. He has made a couple of RAID 5 drives. He might get the equipment at some random times. Do you want me to ask or is your drive on a cloud contract?

Do you ever back it up to a local physical drive?

And just out of curiosity what is the size of the DB.

Yes, if not as often as I'd like, and I don't remember and can't be assed to go sign in and look it up tonight.
