I don't have time to go into a lot of details because I'm about to walk out the door and head to work, but it is possible.

Long story very, very short. An Auburn University baseball player got high on...something. I still don't know what it was, a decade later. He was driving in a trance-like state and fell in behind a State Forest Service Truck. He mindlessly followed this truck 1/4 of the way across the State on back country roads and was so far gone that he even pulled in behind the truck when the Forest Ranger drove the truck into the local Forest Service Office's garage.

He wouldn't communicate when the unarmed, uncertified Forest Ranger got out and tried to ask him what he was doing. He just looked at the Ranger like he was stupid through a rolled up window. So, the Ranger went inside and called the police. Two officer responded. When they tried to get him out of the car, the fight was on.

By the time I got there, as a Supervisor, this guy was single-handedly beating the hell out of six police officers with his bare hands. He'd had three complete cans of OC emptied on him and had taken, we estimated, roughly 100 blows from ASP batons to no effect. This was before Tasers. I've always kept an old-fashioned wooden baton in my trunk for various reasons and it was our last option. I came in swinging for the bleachers and I tagged him right across the shoulder blades. It stunned him just enough for those who were left mobile to take him to the ground and get him cuffed.

Frankly, if that hadn't worked, the only option left was to shoot him. Five of those six officers ended up being admitted to the hospital due to their injuries.
