Or equally that the strain of separation (and the associated suspicions and jealousies) make rebuilding relationships that much harder?

I think I know some of the answer, but not all of the answer. Lefties think they know the answer and they think they know what’s best for everyone. The answer for them is always because we’re all a bunch of racists and no other factors matter.

I didn’t say anything about a two parent household, I said a positive male role model/father figure.

It is not just locked up in america. If the family is in need of public assistance, which many poor black families are because of many racist reasons, it actually will be harder for them to get money if the father is around due to the ways TANF and SNAP works. If you are talking about a multigenerational problem of single parenthood you probably do not have parents able to help out as a single mother so you end up needing every bit of social help you can get. If having a father attached to your household is lowering the income of your household per person, and the money given per person in a household is already not enough for a person to live on, then you can't have the father as part of the household.

To put actual numbers on it SNAP gives just under 200 a month for food alone. That is not even 10 dollars a day for one person. Then, as you have more members in a household that money goes down for each person. So throwing dad in there could knock off money that you cannot even feed yourself daily on. What is worse is if he actually tries to work while attached to your family you could lower your benefits faster than his job can add income to help. Especially when you realize a job starts leading to spending more money.

So our system of poverty actually pushes the father away, and the systematic racism guarantees that most black males do not have the family wealth to make marriage to a black man a way out of welfare like it might be for a white man who could help the woman make the leap off of welfare with her kids because he can cover the gap with savings, credit, or family wealth.

    Conservatism.

Modern GOP is fulla faux macho pricks who think a gun and a loud mouth makes them a man.

Old GOP is fulla folk who used to seem to have spines, but rolled over like good doggies for the new sort.

And they try to kill or demean any good role models on the left side of the aisle.

Does it? What content lead to you to reach that conclusion?

I do wonder how many people who really fight against things like this have actually been in organization's where attempts are being made to try and address the issues.

I'm fortunate enough to work for an employer who has a really big focus on embracing diversity in the work force. It doesn't mean that opportunities are taken away from those best for the job, it means that more effort is put into searching for candidates and supporting their development where the evidence suggests they might otherwise be overlooked.

There's this bizarre idea expressed by UA and OCBM in this thread that such measures somehow encourage people to feel guilty, and the truth is the direct opposite. When the system is trying hard to be fairer and diverse, it means that as a stereotypical beardy white guy in the games industry I feel much more satisfied and not at all guilty when I am given a role or promotion, because I know that I must actually deserve it for being the best for the role.

Agreed. My company, as well, has taken great pains to ensure everyone in this workplace feels valued and is openly encouraged to speak up. For people like me, (short, female, still don't look my real age, and sometimes speak too slowly) it's nice when leadership also randomly calls me out to speak in meetings and such.

This is the part most people don't get. If everyone is free, then everyone wins - most often in ways they never even imagined.

No, if everyone is TRULY free, that includes the freedom to FAIL . There will always be winners and losers until you take the option out of their hands.

See you keep on addressing this straw man version of CRT, as opposed to either what may be taught in high schools or actual CRT. I don't think any class is saying white people=bad, or individual decisions don't matter.

The notion that people didn't have father figures and so they got into crime is a vast oversimplification, considering the number of people who don't have father figures who did great and the people who did have fathers and still are crooks.

Due to the nature of capitalism, not all failures are due to the individual. Some are because capitalists are like black-holes. They attract money. Should Bezos and Sam Walton be free to put the majority of retail out of business? If yes, is it the fault of people reliant on retail for jobs that they failed?

How far down the "failure" tree do you think people should be allowed to go?
    Death?
Cuz that's what we had in the the great depression.
    Daddy Warbucks, and dead people.
It didn't breed utopia, it almost made Mad Max.

George Carlin's dad beat him, and then ran away.
Then he turned to crime, and never became a comedian, and we never heard of him.

    Stephen King?
Same thing, but without the beating part.
He was never heard from again.

Yep, dads are the magic ingredient.
Moms are just there to bake cookies.
