What does one have to do with the other?

If you've never started dozing off during an important meeting all that tells me is that you haven't had many important meetings in your life.

    Thank God.

But still, what does someone intentionally disregarding their job to indulge their narcissism have to do with someone dozing off?

And what meetings were these, and when did they happen? Because the meetings that might have been held when Russian troops showed up at Ukrainian nuclear sites are a tad more important than the meetings being held about a SCOTUS nominee. Not saying that I like the idea of a President nodding off in an important meeting, just that I recognize that the odds of a whole lotta people dying are more likely to happen in the very near future when it comes to one event. And that's the one I'd like the President to be awake for.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: there should be a maximum age limit when serving public office. When you're 75+ years old, and making decisions for the next generation, you won't have to deal with the outcomes of those decisions, and that doesn't get into the fact that getting older brings on mental and physical challenges that can't really be met while also serving in an office that requires sharp thought and action. I'd personally cap it at 65. Once you're 65, you retire, regardless of how many years you've served.

100%. In the private sector you’re (usually) politely put out to pasture when you’re mid to late 60s and that’s fine as well as the correct decision. Young people are hungrier anyways. That this doesn’t translate to the public sector is crazy - like you say, these assholes making decisions for the next generation when they have no skin in the game is maddening

I get what you're saying about them having no skin in the game, but they actually do in two ways, money and their kids and grand-kids' future. Obviously it's only the money they care about. Decent/reasonable people would be concerned about future generations, but of course these aren't reasonable people. But god forbid we should have term limits.

Elections are your term limits. If the people didn't vote for them they wouldn't be there in the first place. There are many young members in congress. We don't hear about them much because they aren't in leadership positions.

This sort of attention is a double edged sword. On one hand it is just another reminder these people are out there and racist as all hell which does have a depressing effect, and on the other it does spark genuine curiosity and people seek out these works which have the effect of showing the problems with racism and that the others are decent people who bring variety and good to the world. The fact that Ted is such an obvious scumbag means you really have to be wanting to be racist to side with him. Even the racists sometimes know to pretend to not like him and trump so they can seem like they are not that bad. I am looking at you @Federal Farmer and @Uncle Albert . I should not forget @Paladin and @Lanzman also. It is great you supposedly do not like those people, but you clearly share many ganglion.

I hate Biden, and I am going to give him a pass on nodding off on certain meetings. Especially if they are meetings that are more to give information to the press rather than actually talking through strategy. dozing off in performative meetings is going to happen IMO. I worry more about things like having to over simplify things and draw pictures to keep the toddler in chief involved because that shows a level of stupidity and distraction that should not be there. even a very attentive person in their prime could easily doze over being swamped with all the intel over such a world effecting event.

I love to rip Biden, but this is not something I would consider any more than a manufactured joke.

Also, many of the biggest pieces of shit in Congress are relatively young. Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert are both in their 30s. MTG is 47.

Puss and crap and right wing fap is what @Uncle Albert is made of.

What the fuck is wrong with you that you would give any sort of respect to that asshole? For that matter, I am still amazed there are such unaware self loathing creatures that would fuck that shit.

BTW you asked so try not to get to mad at the answers.

I have fucked some fucked up creatures in my day. I have never stooped so low as to suck the dick of an Uncle Albert. I get he is a liar and he is not like this IRL, but if you see the slime he posts and still get down with that sleaze showing every bit of disrespect he can to you, then what the fuck is wrong with you? It is one thing if he hides that side of him so you do not see it, and that sucks. When you see this shit on full display and you slurp his dick you have some damage.

Don't ask what is wrong with me. Ask why you don't shit down albert's mouth when you can.

What you're describing is highly discriminatory, and if a private company were to fire an employee just because they are on their mid to late 60s, they would be risking a very damaging lawsuit from that employee. Even actions to help "encourage" the employee to retire could create liability, depending on what those actions are.

While I agree that people over 70 generally shouldn't be in government/leadership positions because of mental and physical decline, there would have to be a massive overhaul of discrimination laws to enforce any sort of age ceiling. Plus, such a mandatory rule ignores that there are some people who in their 70s and 80s are actually just as capable as they were when they were younger (though this is rarer).

God that’s so American, you guys always with the liability and litigation. But you’re right, you’d probably have to overhaul discrimination laws if not employing people over 65 was your goal

My point however is that in the private sector people 65 and over are generally looked at as toxic and would never be hired - they’re almost unemployable. Yet in the public sector no one bats an eye when some old white dude runs for office. Very strange dichotomy

Age discrimination is no different than any other discrimination. It's a convenient way to pigeonhole people without actually considering their qualifications and potential value. It's lazy and deprives businesses (and government agencies) of a potential talent pool, but of course, it takes effort and intelligence to separate the potentially valuable prospective employees from the crotchety old farts who would be nothing but dead wood. :clyde:

Effective hiring is an art, not a science. I would think that casting a broader net would bring in a better crop of new hires, but...whatever.... :clyde:

    Eh, yes and no.

Would you allow a five-year-old to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways?

Why can't you vote until you're 18? Or enlist in the military?

    Why can't you drink until you're 21?

Why do old fucks get better tax credits and discounts than young folks?

Why do most jurisdictions require tests past a certain age to maintain a drivers license?

Age discrimination is alive and well. We accept it because it's been that way for generations.

I have no strong opinion either way, with the exception of the American drinking age which makes absolutely no fucking sense.

I thought I made it clear that qualifications play a role. A five year old isn't qualified to drive a truck. :spock:
    Agree on the drinking age.
