So I am thinking Divine as the main character in all her glorious filth. So I starte4d off with Multiple Maniacs. For those with HBO plus it was on there at the point of this posting. This movie was made on a shoestring budget and it is clear they left a lot of mistakes in there. I thought masturbating with a cross in the Exorcist would be the worst ever thing for christians to see, but lesbian anal with rosaries in the church while portraying the story of the Passion of the Christ was certainly a fuck you to the religious tyranny of the time. The lobster rape scene was a little confusing, but I just went with it and enjoyed the moment. Obviously if you are a maniac you are going to have an interesting sex life. I was clearly rooting for the Divine character as she terrorized whitey town. Clearly the whole incident was the fault of the bearded transgendered rapist who clearly raped her. I have waited to explore this particular person until I was mature enough to understand the art of the whole thing.
This is true, but the character was actually female. She did have lesbian sex in multiple maniacs in a church, and had a daughter which called her mom. There was no actual reference to crossdressing within the film universe. There was also confirmation the character's gender was supposed to be female.
So anyways, on to the next movie we watched. This one would be Female Troubles. Much less drug fueled mania than Multiple Maniacs, and it shows. This is the story of Dawn Davenport who is a horrible human being. Despite being played by Divine the character is fully female in the movie because she does have a kid. This movie was probably really shocking in it's day, but having seen it post reality TV and Springer talk show TV the story wasn't all that crazy. Dawn starts off as a horrible degenerate teenage girl who runs away from home because her parents did not buy her the slutty shoes she wanted. She gets in a car with the local creepy old man and then goes and screws him on a mattress in the woods. Then she is a woman who does petty crimes and abuses her daughter in ways we all have seen o9n springer. She is more hyped up version of peggy bundy. There is this descent into madness thing in these movies as eventually the killings and maimings start. Divine is always the crazy woman criminal. At least I can laugh at this because these are not people. Now that I know Maury and the springer show were just copying this template for their shows "actors" I am much less impressed with the talk show genre. Obviouslky people like Waters set this shit up way before those hacks copied it. Waters also does it better. Though this is good for getting a good idea of the works, I would recommend watching multiple maniacs over this one as it was far more disturbing and fun.
