I watched the first episode. Looks like they're introducing meta-humans into universe, whatever universe that may be at this point. I enjoyed it. Gunn directed and wrote the first episode and you can tell, the humor is great and my favorite character isn't even human.
I saw the first episode and mostly liked it. Cena's got good comic appeal. What the hell kind of Adrian Chase is this? The eagle is terrific. The opening is fantastic! Will continue with the next episode...
Watched the second ep and was well-entertained, but I'm still not totally hooked. I did not skip the opening credits, one of the few shows I can say that about. Cena continues to impress with his comedic likeability, even when playing a pretty awful person (though I can see his arc will rehabilitate him somewhat). Despite the relentlessly-unfaithful-to-the-comics portrayal of Adrian Chase, his character is amusing and I loved his scenes with Peacemaker in this ep. Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) isn't just hawt, she's a very credible badass. Really digging her.
Episode 3 and 4 down and, yep, I'm hooked. Against all odds, this incarnation of Adrian Chase/Vigilante is my favorite character.
First off the rant about the list of people John could have framed was breathtakingly hilarious. James Gunn is way too funny. I wonder if it was improvised? When I saw the Gorilla, I wondered if maybe DC is thinking of how they do a live action Grodd. I don't think the boss butterfly guy will kill Adebayo, I think there's some sort of faction of "bad" and "good" butterflies and maybe they're competing over resources or something. Good to see the Swede from Hell on Wheels pop up in anything.
Fucking Thor Gundersen. You just know something severely fucked up is about to happen when he appears in your show. Hell on Wheels? Cannibal. Van Helsing? Deaf serial killer turned vampire. Travelers? Barfs up an eyeball a couple minutes into his scene.
Unless that was a real gorilla, there's already been a "live-action" Grodd in several of the Arrowverse Flash episodes. Fighting Killer Shark, at one point!
It did strike me that you might have meant "how do they introduce the concept of Grodd to the Gunnverse ", but Grodd doesn't really need it - the Gunnverse already has Superman and Batman, so just a quick "some scientist experimented on him and now he's super-smart and psychic.... I think he normally fights that speedy guy" would do. They managed King Shark in SS2 perfectly well.
The finale was fun - the cameo by the Justice League at the end was hilarious I didn’t know what to expect from this show, gotta say it was very enjoyable and entertaining overall. Can’t wait for next season!
Got around to watching the finale. Very solid ending. The cameos at the end were fun. Was eye-rolling a little bit with the political stuff at the end, but Peacemaker had the right answer: whatever our problems are, they're for us to solve. I look forward to the next season.
Fantastic! DC should keep what Snyder built, but put Gunn in charge of the DCU ala Fiege, moving forward. The JL cameo was funny, the political shit was cringeworthy, but I agree with @Paladin, leave it up to us to figure our shit out. Very Star Treky of Gunn to do that.
A few months late, but I finally got around to bingeing this show. Fantastic. Sick humour. Some real emotional moments. Great story and engaging characters. Loved the season finale. The 30 seconds that the Justice League was on the screen was better than all the hours wasted in both versions of the shitty Justice League films. (Yeah, I know it was really only Flash and Aquaman with a bunch of CGI subs for the rest of the League, but I stand by my statement). Put James Gunn in charge of the DCCU, fer crissakes.
Just started watching the show, second episode, there's a glaring error early on. Peacemaker's car is described as a "Ford Comet." No such vehicle. Mercury made the Comet, which was a variation of the Ford Maverick (at least of the body style shown). Peacemaker's car was an early 70s version of either one of those vehicles (which shared a lot of components with the Pinto and the Mustang II). I know that some versions of that era Comets had fake hood scoops, but I don't know if all of them did.
A few things: (a) You do know that Peacemaker takes place in a fictional universe? (b) Ford did make a Comet for two years before moving the model over to Mercury. (c) Regardless, see point (a).
What? No! In the 1960s. The car that he was driving was a 1970s version, so it doesn't matter if Ford had a model in the 60s, it's still wrong. And? You know the only thing worse than a slathering fan boy who hates everything? A fapping fan boy who loves everything, no matter what. Oh, and Auggie's neighbor played Belial on DC's Legends of Tomorrow. I have to wonder if that's somehow not going to be relevant at some point.
If I was going to do that, I would have pointed out that sometimes it required a headshot to kill a butterfly, and other times, just a fatal shot to the host was enough.
