Somebody burns a cross on the sidewalk in front of your house? Well, they didn't technically trespass and they didn't damage your property, so quit bitching about it, you sensitive snowflake. It's not like you don't have a choice. You can always just move.

I'd had one whiskey too many last night to point out that UA basically argued that, if someone attacks you and you survive, just scarred, it's all good.

    Them's the breaks.

    Life's a cunt.

The one who swung the knife at you was doing you a favour.

No need to punish them. Give 'em a medal, in fact.

As a member of a community who takes a huge amount of abuse for being themselves, you all are a bunch of entitled brats. No one does anything to stop the abuse. All you people do is just walk away when someone is being insulted or harassed. I hate to agree with UA, but you are just setting people up to be abused more when you tell them this shit. Because you won't be there for them even if it happens in front of you. You will even let the bullies through and you will attack the victim for the bullies.

You think you would actually shelter a victim? You think you would actually help shoulder the abuse?

    :chardman:

Try actually standing up to a bully and see how fast everyone around you backs away and blames you for the conflict. I know, I have tried to netkop the cyberbullies. How do you think I became a troll over and over and over again?

    Thanks for the belly laugh.

My solution to physical violence is living up to your responsibility to defend yourself with proportional force.

My answer to people saying hurtful things :weep: is to get the fuck over your precious feelings and ignore them.

I articulate myself exactly the same in all settings. Politeness gets you politeness, annoying douchebaggery gets you belligerence.

It's amazing how the faintest modicum of discipline or independence is a straight line to a veiny Randy Savage pose to you. You must be dangling directly from the teat as you type.

Your solution to kids feeling bad about bullying is to not feel bad.

That's as pointless as telling depressed people that they just be happy.

The irony is strong with this one. (See any number of threads where UA thinks that people who don't even know of his existence might possibly be suspecting him of being racist by suggesting that racism exists).

You want to look at the actions the Allies had at the end of WWII? Want to look at what Germany did to ensure that it doesn't happen again in their country? The kids in German schools today had nothing to do with the events of WWII, nor did even their parents. Yet, still, Germany makes sure that they know what happened almost 100 years ago, in very painful detail. Why? Because not only do they want to atone for the horrors that they unleashed upon the world in times past, but also because they want to ensure that if it does happen again, it doesn't happen in Germany.

Now, let's shift our thoughts to a few hundred miles east of Germany. Stalin, quite probably, killed more people than Hitler did. The Russians (especially after Putin came to power) haven't done anything to highlight the horrors that Stalin is responsible for. Now, granted, Stalin did his genocides in the "acceptable" manner: He locked people up and starved them, rather than creating entire industrial operations that had no purpose other than genocide. Had the Soviet Union responded to the Stalin-era in the same manner that Germany did in the post-WWII era, it's entirely possible that Putin might never have come to power, or even if he did, he might not have had the confidence to invade places like Chechnya, Georgia, Ukraine, and others.

If, after the Civil War, the US had treated plantations and prisons like Andersonville, the same way Germany has treated their death camps, there's a chance that huge chunks of American history might well have been different.

One of these photos shows survivor(s) of Andersonville, and the other shows survivors of a death camp in WWII.

Does it look like this slave had it much better than someone in a concentration camp?

The Third Reich lasted for 12 years. Slavery, in the US, lasted from 1619 to 1865, that's 246 years. If 12 years of absolute horror was enough to convince the Germans that they needed to make teaching why genocide was bad a priority, shouldn't the 246 years where slavery was legal in the US merit at least as much attention (with no kind words said about the slavers)? Interestingly enough, the US became an independent nation 246 years ago.

If, the failure to atone for Stalin's crimes led to Putin being in power, then what must the US's failure to atone for slavery yield in the decades since? Remember, once communism fell in the Soviet Union, folks took endless delight in ripping down statues of Stalin and Lenin. Meanwhile, in the US, years after the Civil War, folks began erecting statues for folks like Lee and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Doesn't that strike you as fucked up?

it's been explained a thousand times to you that the issue is over benefitting from systemic racism, not actively enforcing it-
i.e.: white privileges such as access to financial services or survivability of a police encounter.

of course you're too proud to concede that such a thing even exists-let alone if it ever did.

It's not guilt "we" want "you" to feel. "We" just want to bring to your attention that racism still exists and many people are adversely affected by it. When the majority of white people deny that racism exists, it allows asshole racists to continue being racist and making other people's lives miserable.

When someone says they are a victim of racism, all that is being asked of you is to not deny it because racism ended 60 years ago.

I don't recall seeing or reading anything anywhere suggesting you should do anything other than accept a person at their word. This is not the same thing as laying blame. It just starts with not assuming black people are lying trying to get something for nothing.

    it has been demonstrated
    you've been provided links

it's also been explained how you consciously misrepresent what systemic racism means and turn it into all about how it affects you (or, to the point, how you're refusing to be affected by it personally, so neeners)

notable is you ignore the part about physical bullying/intimidation to which I was clearly referring to and take the safe, lazy dodge.

well, that and your seeming belief that it's the person receiving the abuse's fault for not "getting over their precious feelings"...

must be nice to have enjoyed such a trauma free life.
