It's looking more and more likely that the leak Republicans have been howling about for the past several months ... came from the right. https://www.rollingstone.com/politi...-to-persuade-kavanaugh-to-uphold-roe-1388075/
When Missouri doctors terminate a pregnancy because of a medical emergency, they must report their decision to the state. Then prosecutors review it and decide whether or not to charge them with a criminal violation of the state's abortion ban. https://www.statnews.com/2022/07/05...ween-protecting-themselves-or-their-patients/
Samuel Alito mocks foreign critics of repealing Roe v. Wade in Rome speech on religious liberty ... "Religious liberty is under attack in many places because it is dangerous to those who want to hold complete power," Alito said. "It also probably grows out of something dark and deep in the human DNA -- a tendency to distrust and dislike people who are not like ourselves," he added. ---------------- Holy shit, the projection is strong. What a complete piece of shit.
I know there’s a post somewhere in which I said this decision would ultimately cause the Supreme Court to lose power …https://www.whitehouse.senate.gov/n...yRrsYAPPo_NXBfAOOps&mibextid=iloqvq&fs=e&s=cl
Whitehouse has really upped his game lately. This is a solid proposal and another item on the list of reasons why regardless of current frustration left-of-center voters need to suck it up and defend/expand the majority at least one more time this fall.
Interesting. I wonder if it’s written as a rules change (which does not require the House or President to sign off), or if it’s an ordinary bill.
maybe not what you are referring to but as Whitehouse described the bill on Twitter, the review votes are not subject to the filibuster
Of course people on the left will try to vote to expand the majority of the dems, but let us remember that the corporate dems are running anti-abortion candidates over progressive candidates. When we look at the effect of running republicans in the democrat primaries we see things like manchin getting elected which defeats the purpose of voting dems into office. This all makes our current republican president very happy because he hates abortion and has always been a republican. If we cannot get the dems to put in left leaning people then we are not going to get anywhere. Thank you pelosi, schumer, biden, and the DNC. Nothing will get done because centrists love their republican right fascists wearing democrat buttons.
I actually rolled into DC the evening of the leak, so next day ended up being part of the protest for a few minutes - would have been longer, but not everyone in the entourage wanted to be near protestors despite agreeing with them, plus I'm not sure a Brit physically weighing on US politics would have been that acceptable to the drooling botherers of God
Holidaying, although I had been hoping to see if Palms was still a spot to earwig given what was and is going on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, I was in Manchester today. One of our students is on an industrial year placement at CityLabs 2.0. Very impressive lab setup, am very jealous.
Not seen those yet, hope you had chance to sample a few bars, we've some nice ones and the local council hasn't quite sold the city's entire soul to developers yet, just most of it. In another decade you'll need a penthouse just to recall what the sky looks like.
Tort reform would be a step in the right direction. It's just one tool in the tool box. Let's also get rid of licensing and licensing fees, reciprocity for nurses and doctors across state lines, health insurance across state lines. Just to name a few more.
Don't be jelly, you're still a scientist and you're still mad. Dr. Frankenstein didn't have the best lab in the world.
