I'm waiting for the first time the special master does something Trump doesn't like and he starts saying "UNspecial master," and all the Trumpettes chortle like it's the cleverest thing they've ever heard.

DeSantis has been described as "Trump with Brains", but I'm beginning to wonder. His driving force seems to be to act out of spite on whoever or whatever trigers his inner Uncle Albert. :spock:

    From James' statement:

Awaits legal arguments that Trump can ignore those "onerous restrictions" because he's the President (and he is! pay no attention to that fake Biden win...)

BREAKING: A three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit has granted DOJ's motion for a partial stay, allowing them to continue using classified materials seized from Mar-a-Lago as part of their criminal investigation.

Two of the three judges in this panel were appointed by Donald Trump:

Judge Robin Rosenbaum (appointed by Obama)
Judge Britt Grant (appointed by Trump)
Judge Andrew Brasher (appointed by Trump)

Whole tweet thread is worth reading. Looks like they pretty much slapped down Trump (and Cannon).

You can be sure that Trump has learned his lesson from this. If he gets into power again, judgeships will go only to the most hardcore of extremist loons and the most craven of bootlicking sycophants.

I was in the 9th today before a panel that had a Trumper on it...and I did not realize he was a Trumper until I did a wikipedia search midway through appellee's argument. And his decisions since 2019 seem pretty California to me. I'm not sure Trump picked them all that well.

The Federalist Society picked them. The squirrelly rulings seem to come from the ones who were rated as "unqualified" by the bar.

It's worth remembering that presidents don't always pick the judges. Yes, that's what :hail:The Constitution :hail: says...but...Senatorial Courtesy is a very real thing. In reality the appointments are made by the senior senator of the president's party from the state they are appointed to serve in. If there is no senator from the same party in that state it gets a little dicier, but the tradition is that the rest of the senate will not go along if the President tries to ram through an appointment without the approval of that state's senators. For a long time Florida's two senators were Connie Mack (R) and Bob Graham (D). They worked together in a truly bi-partisan fashion to get competent judges appointed. From what I saw it worked pretty damn well. Several of those judges were brilliant and the rest were at least competent and impartial. So while Trump might want to appoint nothing but boot lickers, there is a bit of tradition that might keep some of them out, but that's small consolation if he gets re-elected.:shep:

He's smarter than Trump - a low bar - but those close to him in the past claim he has as little personal charm and charisma as Ted Cruz. Not that the neo-fascist tribe lets anything like that dissuade them

Also, their rules say that this type of case CANNOT be appealed to an en banc ruling, so his only hope is SCOTUS and they don't really have any vested interest in getting involved. They already have maximum power.

In legal circles, that opinion would be called a "smackdown".
