not sure why weather patterns falling outside of historic norms in a feast or famine pattern seems contradictory to a binge drinker?

although that the refuting image is of a guy who claims everything on earth is the work of aliens seems fitting.

Earlier this year alarmist scientists predicted something like 28 hurricanes this year, we’ve seen one. :facts:

Do you ever even think before you post? Or maybe it’s that you don’t read other people’s posts. Are you so self centered that you think you alone know what’s what?

Nope, count again. Oh and the best thing part is the prediction went down from 28 to do something like 20-14. Laughable.

    Atlantic hurricanes by year

not sure what you're laughing about? this handy visual aid shows exactly what I said about the ebb and flow of the storm cycles.

There's also a couple months left in the season... traditionally the time of a higher number of stronger events. (most cat 4-5s form after September)

If you're just counting hurricanes, there have been 6. a total of 24 tropical depressions, storms, and hurricanes - which ARE INCLUDED in any years' count of "hurricane season"

you're splitting a hair between tropical storms and hurricanes that doesn't really exist.

Hurricane vs. Tropical Storm: What's the Difference and What Does it Mean for Harvey?
    By Jonathan Belles
    August 26, 2017

Satellite images of two stages of Harvey: hurricane (left) vs. tropical storm (right). Imagery is experimental.
Harvey has recently "weakened" from a Category 1 hurricane to a tropical storm, but there really isn't a difference between the two. In fact, this tropical storm could do as much or more damage as the hurricane did at landfall.

Can you tell the difference between the two in the graphic above?

The technical difference is just 1 mph between maximum sustained winds of 73 mph for a tropical storm and 74 mph for a hurricane. This difference is imperceptible to most of us except in our heads by the way of a different name.

Why do the categories begin at 74 mph instead of 39 mph or some other incremental wind speed? The current scale, the Saffir Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (SSHWS), is an extension of an old British Navy scale called the Beaufort Wind Scale.

The Beaufort scale broke up winds into 12 forces or grades from calm winds up through gale force winds to hurricane strength winds. The 12th grade on the Beaufort scale is "hurricane," a grade defined by winds of 64 knots or 74 mph at its minimum bound and no maximum bound.

The SSHWS breaks up that hurricane grade into five categories. The tropical storm category is a grouping of some of the Beaufort grades.

The physical impact of a decrease from 75 mph to 70 mph is very small. Both wind speeds can do damage, and, in fact, winds as low as 40 mph can do damage to structures and even trees if the winds blow for a long enough duration or if the ground is saturated.

But, these categories have no direct relationship with how much rainfall a tropical storm or hurricane will produce.

Motherfucker, what the fuck do you think fucking cyclones and typhoons are?
When I said we're at 20, I wasn't fucking limiting it to the Atlantic fucking Ocean. We're at 20 hurricanes worldwide and the year's not over; and you have the fucking audacity to quote Wikipedia instead of going to NOAA?
    https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/monitoring/monthly-report/tropical-cyclones/202208

You're out of your lane here, Mr.-History-Degree, trying to argue with a fucking geographer about this. Yeah. That's what MY degree was in.

Right, so you're doubling down on not understanding the difference between climate and weather.

By the logic you're using, a warm winters day would disprove the entire notion of seasons.

    His source is a kook.
I always go to their about/FAQ, and I find the stupid/crazy pretty quick.
Dude throws a lot of big words and impressive jobs around, but he's not a climatologist, he's a computer animator, and he became a "climate skeptic" after some guy who I can't find on Google showed him data and "the numbers didn't add up".
There's always "numbers that don't add up" and we aren't allowed to see them, like God writing the commandments.

I understand weather and climate just fine, I’m just not part of the cult you belong to. We’ve had posters here that have reported hot days in July as evidence of global warming. I don’t remember you calling them out on that. I wonder why that is?:mystery:

Yet I don’t see you refuting any of it. The source is never good enough for you. It’s your way of backing out of an argument.

Yeah dicky, I don't see you showing us how the earth is not flat, 2+2 does not equal five, and water isn't wet. If you do not do those things every argument and explain every single nuance in detail then you are just bashing the source which is a five year old toddler shouting crazy talk. Oh, and if you did actually explain things in detail then you are me and tldr.

It is the same bullshit argument the boy always has when he tries to cite sources like Joe Rogan.

What other bullshit am I supposed to "refute" along with an animator's opinion on climate?
A clay modeler's opinions on cuisine?
A landscaper's opinions on round vs flat Earth?
    A chef's opinion on evolution?
I'd be reading stupid bullshit all day, and have to shit in a bucket like Cartman.
    Nertz to that.

Come on, my neice has some opinions on this shit, so you better be ready to take on her ten year old mind because she might be right when she thinks unicorns exist. We cannot call a child a child or a moron a fucking moron. We have to argue whether or not the earth is flat and establish all definitions in every single argument that exists on the internet. No using established facts or definitions because that makes federal farmer instantly wrong because he is a noted imbecile.
