And a lot of folks swore up and down that JFK was going to get us all nuked during the crisis, probably because they had no idea we were conducting secret negotiations with the Soviets. If you don’t think we’re having secret talks with folks in Russia, you’re woefully naive.

Jimmy Dore. But don't take his word for it, Joe Biden said he would end the pipeline and a former MEP even thanked us for doing it. You have to ask yourself, who stands more to benefit? Answer: certainly nor Putin. Keep believing the propaganda though.

This is typical of you folks.

Someone goes on air, makes a ludicrous statement the reporters have no idea what the fucking lunacy they are spouting about even is and just says, okay, whatever moving on and then you tards go HA, SEE COVERUP!

Turns out it wasn’t helicopters but a single helicopter. And it had all its telemetry and beacons on (as one does when committing covert acts of war) so we actually know its entire flight path. And it was no where near the leaks.

    https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/othe...-sabotage-of-nord-stream-pipeline/ar-AA12qWIQ

But because this weirdo caught the news folks off guard by making shit up it is all of a sudden some kind of proof for you?

That's not quite accurate. The captain of one ship, cut off from communications, believed war had broken out and wanted to nuke the American submarines. But protocol demanded that he needed to get agreement from his political officer and from the chief of staff of the flotilla, also on board. The latter disagreed with him and persuaded him to surface. There was no order given or refused.

But it was a close run thing. I share the concern about not wanting to "appease" Putin, but neither should we be blasé about the prospects of nuclear war. At some point the increased risk of that must influence decisions about peace.

Regardless, save for the brief period of WWII, the US and the Soviet Union had been at ideological war with one another (not to mention the time when we invaded the Soviets back in the 20s) for forty years at that point. Both sides pitched as a life and death struggle between Marxism and Capitalism. One could have the glory of dying for mother Russia or freedom, were we to get into a nuclear war.

Yet, time and time again, whenever military forces on one side or the other thought that the despicable enemy had launched a pre-emptive strike, their first response wasn't, "Fire all weapons!" It was to wait and see if that's what really happened.

Now, consider what's been going on with the Russian military since Putin's been running Russia: Money that was supposed to go for paying troops and buying equipment was instead used to line the pockets of the military leaders. Now that they've gone to war, they're starting to lose their gravy train (if not their lives). What do they gain if they obey Putin's order to fire nukes? They won't be sacrificing their lives for mother Russia, or Marxism/Leninism/Stalinism, they'll be doing it for Putin. Yeah, sure, they've no doubt committed war crimes in Ukraine, but we all know how this works: You whack Putin, and we cut you a deal on the war crimes charges. Heck, we'll probably even let you keep most of your ill-gotten gains. Sacrifice a few of the least wealthy leaders to war crimes tribunals to placate the Ukrainians to some degree, give Ukraine membership in the EU, NATO, and a bunch more weapons, and maybe some favorable trade agreements, and that'll keep the upset to a minimum.

Putin's the cornered rat, so long as those under him think that they've got a way out, they'll take it, rather than follow him down to global destruction.

Russia's military doesn't seem all that eager to fight, if Ukraine is to be believed.

Multiple reports that the Russian front line in Kherson has collapsed and is being rolled back dozens of kilometers. Fighting ongoing. Other reports that Russia has called for a general evacuation of Kherson oblast west of the Dneipr to try to re-establish a stable defensive line.

If Ukraine can consolidate and cross the Dneipr, that opens the door to Melitpol and Mariupol in the East - and Crimea in the South.

Sachs is a noted economist primarily devoted to Sustainable Energy and Technologies and Poverty. He can speak to the economic impact of Putin's war on Europe and Russia. Granted, he might be wrong, but he can speak credibly as an expert witness on that very soft science.

Why would you ever take him for an expert in black ops sabotage and military matters?

Are you EVER going to learn what a credible source is?

Or is it just 'whoever happens to agree with me?'

The interviewer should have shut him down immediately. Sachs has no credentials in this - he's just another guy spewing conspiracy theory.

Which of course turned out to be the case.

This bombing, which @Ancalagon incorrectly still calls a leak even though everyone agrees it was sabotage, screams of a typical CIA /Navy Seals type covert operation.

Since I never post pics of dead people, only text.

Ukrainian troops in the East have discovered an open-air morgue of Russian troops. Dead Russian soldiers lined up and only covered with a blanket, and a street cat was already devouring parts of one. #Ukraine

Okay. Still, suggesting now would be a good time to sue for peace before things get increasingly worse doesn't make one a Russian sympathizer. I know the left likes to throw out words with little to no consideration for their actual meaning, but I think we should be a little more careful with how we use language.

I actually don't see a major issue with the terms he's suggesting. He's right that the final outcome will probably be along those lines. But the Russians aren't likely to accept that the referendums are re-run.

When the invaders’ lines are crumbling on three fronts telling the victim to stop pushing them out of their country and sue for peace is bullshit.

The Ukrainians are freeing their country. They don’t need us to bargain away their territory they just need our support.

He's talking about this years after the fact when all that is common knowledge.

And again, that in no way, shape or form is what his area of expertise is in. He has no more credentials on this topic than I do.

That doesn't change a single thing about my comment. It is possible that this was American sabotage, but there's no definitive proof of that, and the assertions Sachs put forward is disputed by the press.

Even FOX isn't backing the "US did it!" angle beyond Carlson. If they're serious about an angle, it at least makes it to FOX and Friends.

Leave it to Murdoch to make a bunch of hateful cunts sound like a kids show about woodland creatures.
