I can't help but contrast Trump's naked hucksterism with Harry S Truman who lived pretty much hand to mouth on a meager army pension until he signed a lucrative book deal with Henry Luce. Ultimately, Congress established the presidential pension which Herbert Hoover didn't need, but which he accepted to make sure that his friend Truman didn't look like a beggar.
