This is Davies getting the keys to the franchise back and immediately playing with his favorite toys again, with the anniversary as a convenient excuse.

And I'm not mad about it.

I was a little mad about it, but since Chibnall and Whittaker didn't want to stick around I recognize it would have been a dick move to make Gatwa start his tenure during the 60th anniversary where he'd immediately be overshadowed by whoever else was coming back for it.

Now I'm just mad about Davies refusing to let Tennant wear Whittaker's outfit for even a moment. Reeks of cowardice.

Whitaker should have regenerated in the nude.

Look, if you want to see Jodie's tits, she gets them out in the film "Venus", and there's a sex scene in one of the early Black Mirror stories. Likewise, you can find Eccleston, Tennant and Smith shagging elsewhere (Smith shags Billie Piper in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, for extra fanfic bait).

I mention that to make it up to UA that RTD ain't gonna erase the Timeless Child stuff. He liked it - and why not? It gives endless opportunities for one-off "too big to get for a series, but we can get them for a special" Doctors, like the John Hurt War Doctor.

Opening parts of the new main theme have some similarity to the 90's FOX movie for Eight, which is good. Love the vocals on the middle section of the theme.

Doctor Who's Very First Story Won't Be Part of the BBC's Streaming Archive

I'm looking forward to dipping into those, for the last couple of decades the BBC has steadfastly refused to show more than a handful of the old stories (DVD sales innit) on UK channels.

They've put them on BritBox, bit I'm not paying for a service that rhymes with another word for toilet. I've enough streaming services as it is.

Gatwa will be a reboot back to season 1 the way Eccelston was.
So, technically, NuWho is ending, and then we're getting NuNuWho.

That's just fucking stupid. I know Eccleston (note the spelling) was considered "series one" of nuWho, but it absolutely followed Doctor Who continuity, so this seems to be nothing more than gimmicky bullshit.

Unless they're willing to completely trash 60 years of Who storytelling, this isn't an actual reboot.

Reboot, reset, whatever word you'd rather use.

That is exactly the kind of arrogance you can expect of modern "writers." And when the rest of the world fails to appreciate their fresh genius, they will actively vandalize the coattails they are riding.

But the Jesus-like humility of fist shaking internet CHUDs will save us all.
